I've long been a fan of Adam Fellows' immaculate cooking at his flagship Goodfellows Restaurant. Although many people treat it as their canteen, and it's exceedingly good value, for us it's more of a special occasion outing. If you think Goodfellows is good value, then Sadler Street Cafe is worth visiting twice a day, every day of the week. The food is of the same very high quality, there are more meat dishes and the presentation is just as mind-bogglingly attractive. Heavenly rillettes, cassoulet, black pudding sausage with mash and apple, tuna carpaccio. Actually you can eat anything off the menu and know that it will be superb. You can't do better than £10 for lunch (2 courses & a glass of wine or beer) or £20 for dinner (main course, patisserie and a glass of wine or beer). Stunning! And, as a bonus, last orders at the Sadler Street Cafe are at 10pm - so you can go to a concert in the gorgeous Cathedral or see a film in Wells' unconventional cinema and then discuss the evening's entertainment over a beautiful bouillabaisse.
