Have been lots of times, its conveniently near the station. I always love the food there and the portions are much more generous than other Thai restaurants I have been to. Just hope it doesn't change hands.

I tried all the other Thai restaurants in Leeds and concluded that I didn't like Thai food until I visited Saengarun. I'm now converted and absolutely love the authenticity of this simple and wonderful little place. I've recommended it to all friends and clients and all agree that it's the best Thai food they ever ate.

I love this restaurant. The staff are really welcoming and the food fabulous. Don't be put off by the lack of a grand entrance. This is well worth the visit.

the best Thai food in England. its really authentic. have been to Thailand before and the food here is real Thai food. my partner and i go regularly and we just love it. would recommend to anyone who loves Thai food and good food

Have been to most of the Thai places in Leeds, including the excellent sukothai but this is way, way, better. The papaya salad is incredible. You just have to be able to deal with the karaoke....

Having been a frequent visitor to Maitai for the last 12 years (and it has been there that long)... the food is amazing... non of the posh settings that seem to have taken over Leeds .. just really really good food in central Leeds that is by far the best Thai in the region.. and really reasonable too..

I've been to several other Thai's in leeds, thai edge and chaophraya, and this is possibly the best. More traditional than those two, theres no fancy interior, but it feels warm and friendly, and the staff were smiling which is always good. We went for the mixed starters, which were excellent, a soup that was quite nice, but the main courses were the highlight. Chicken in chilli and lemongrass, and squid in black bean, garlic and peppers. Both were excellent. Also the pad thai noodles were the best I've had in leeds. This is probably more authentic than most other thai's, and one of my favourate places in leeds. Not too pricey either, good value for money. Only down point is the slightly dodgy toilet!

What can I say, I had never been to a thai restaurant before and having read the reviews on all the big named city centre restaurants I thought I would visit a real thai food place, that is what you get at maitai, the lady who served us was adorable and helped us throughout the meal giving advise. I had red thai king prawns they were the best king prawns I have had in ages they were massive and so many flavours that you can identify within the sauce. Cant wait to visit again.

by far the best thai food in leeds... the decor might not be as fashionable as other places but if you are looking for good quality authentic thai food then you are in the right place.
