My wife and i had a lunchtime meal on 190319.We have not been here for maybe 2 years. We both had 3 courses and 2 drinks each.Total cost was £62.95.This is fantastic value and far and away the best in this area. The atmosphere was perfect for a couple of 60 plus year olds.Only one lady behind the bar who was also serving the food.Maybe 20 people came in over the lunchtime. She managed well, the food was excellent. Such a shame that the Smiths can not be reached by bus because that was sacked 2 years ago.If you want to drink alcohol you have to have a taxi which restricts the visitors unless you live next door.We live only3 miles away and spent £20 on taxis. The Smiths and other surrounding pubs are penalised because they are unreachable by public transport. We will return.

Excellent, friendly pub with welcoming staff. Visit this pub every saturday with family, young children. Always made to feel very welcome. Lovely log fire and excellent food. Would highly reccommend.

Enjoyed a good meal here. Fish and chips and 'posh chilli'. Both were tasty and service was friendly. Great open fires, even one outside for the smokers!

We visited the Smiths Arms on Saturday evening and were very pleased with the food and hospitality. The staff were very polite and the food was outstanding!! Very pleased and will definitely be returning.

I have been to this pub once previously and had a nice meal. That was years ago. I think the pub has changed hands since then. We were taking part in an annual beer festival for charity through a friend who pointed out the landlady who was going bezerk at people who were standing outside with dogs, and other people who were getting in her was as she charged around glass collecting. But the beer was good. Didn't stay long enough to sample the food with that landlady though! I also witness the bar man shouting at a few people and didn't really remove his angry expression the whole time he'd been there. The other pubs on the charity drinking route had a slightly less frosty reception :-)

what a shock. came in on st georges night pub crawl, after the landlord didn't hear my order he said "what?" so I repeated and he shouted "Don't speak to me like that!" and the landlady joined in to say " Nobody treats us like dogs!". Errr... shocked! Bad service..............

Took the kids to the St Georges day crawl and was shocked to witness the landlady losing complete control and swearing at customers for feeding their dogs outside (lots of paying guests with dogs annually on this route so really surprising to see someone object?!) and using their phone to call cabs etc, everything but ordering full plates of food infuriated her?! Shrink required!!!!
