Been to Smiths a number of times and enjoyed. Last night I ordered the lamb hotpot but I can say it lacked the lamb and wasn't anything special. Staff didn't respond to the comments when told about it. Very disappointed in them. Don't order the 24hr slow cooked lamb hotpot. Have something else instead.

I visited Smiths again with a friend yesterday evening. As always, the food was excellent and the service a perfect blend of friendly and professional. Try the frittata on the starter menu - it's to die for! Perfect! And the new haloumi cheese starter is an unusual but piquant combination. We will be visiting again and again.

Yes there is an overrated place trying out the 'lets be posh in Eccles' look but for atmosphere and great, down to earth no nonsense food. Smiths is the place to be.
Been there 3 times now and i'm welcomed like an old friend!!

I Have been going to Smiths for about 10 years and would like to praise them for their consistency of excellent food and service. I have taken friends and family for special occasions and everyone comments on having such a good time- with the food, service and atmosphere.
I heartily recommend Smiths and will be going back very soon.

The staff are excellent here and very aware of the needs of and accommodating for people with allergies. Also very patient with demanding people like ourselves.
Topped off with excellent food, it's an ideal restaurant.

Have been to smiths lots of times over the last few years. They seem to be one of very few places that improve with time. The staff are excellent and the quality of the menus available are second to none. Whether its the Tuesday jazz night, an early tea or a night out with friends there is no place better place to fill you up and leave you looking forward to your next visit

Although I've enjoyed many nice meals here and found the service generally very good there is no escaping that Smiths is becomming tired.The menus are hit and miss ,repetitive and frankly dated-each month sees a variation on soup, heavy cream sauces, stodgy meats and the decor is in need of a spruce up. With competition like the new contemporary chinese restaurant next door I think it would be a shame for Smiths to lose out for believing in its own hype a little too much.

This has to be the best restaurant in the area. It never fails to delight and I have been dining there for the past 10 years. The quality of food and service never wavers, no matter how busy they are (and that tends to be most evenings).

Brill Brill Brill - what a find. We were told to go by a couple we got chatting to at a comedy club, a bit random but if it crops up in conversation with strangers you think it must be good, and we weren't disappointed. Staff are fab.
