I had my favourite sea bass which was cooked to perfection the staff were friendly and attentive without being in your face. I will be going again soon.

Went for my 60th birthday celebration on July 8th. There were 27 of us plus 1 toddler. We'd agreed a menu choice beforehand with 4 starters, 4 mains plus a veggie option and 4 sweets. One of the main course choices was Sunday lunch which effectively increased the number of choices since there was lamb, beef or turkey available. The organisation was excellent. The pre-dinner drinks were available when we arrived & the staff went round taking orders while we had a drink. When the starters were ready we were all served together & the food was good. The main courses were excellent - plenty of good quality food well presented & in the case of the steaks, cooked as requested. Any minor hiccoughs were very rapidly sorted out with customer satisfaction being uppermost. The sweets too were good & the whole meal was nicely paced - not too fast but without any long waits. The staff were very attentive & wine glasses were kept filled without having to ask. All in all a very enjoyable experience and it's clear that the manageress Ann Amphlett who took over about a year ago has made a big difference. The staff looked happy & the food was nicely cooked to a high standard. I felt it was good value for money & the staff earned their tip.

Went last Friday with some friends and was really surprised at how nice this country pub was - candles on each table, large airy dining room, material napkins. Menu is very varied with choices from homemade Lancashire hotpot at less than £7 up to fresh fish / meat dishes at a bit more. We all had something different for starter and main and where really pleased with out choices. My partner had the homemade soup broccoli and stilton which was really tasty and I had the pate which was nicely presented, a good consistency and not overly creamy. Our mains were equally good I had monk fish tails with noodles and a Thai green curry sauce which was delicious and my partner the 5 hr cooked lamb shank which he said melted in his mouth. He had a homemade pudding too which he enjoyed. 5 courses between the 2 of us, drinks (wine and beer) came to £60 which we thought was really reasonable. Will definitely go again.
