Regular visitor, food wonderful very reasonably priced. Staff and service excellent lovely friendly and cosy atmosphere.

The Black Horse is a charming and delightful place to eat , my wife and I revisited with my sisters after a 40 + yrs away and missing the pub style meals of fish and chips and mushy peas . My what a treat we truly enjoyed the atmosphere and friendliness of the management. We have one regret not bring back the mushy pea recipe if you feel comfortable sending it we would appreciate it. Went here last night (tues) and we were the first people in the pub but were made to feel very welcome by the lady on the bar. The pub was warm and welcoming. It says on the walls 'we do not serve fast food - we serve good food as quick as we can'. This could not be more true. Our starters (garlic bread and garlic mushrooms) arrived 45 minutes later, they weren't bad but we would not order them again. The mains followed 45 minutes after this, and were not worth the wait. The fishcakes were ok, but the cheese pie was overcooked and had a thick skin on like it had been stored for weeks - i did not eat one bite. On leaving i told the lady who served us (who i think is the land-lady/chefs assistant/waitress and bar person) i was not happy to wait nearly 2 hours for a meal that was not fresh and on a quiet night in the pub - but she did not seem to care. Very, very dissapointed.

As it's my local pub I can say on behalf of myself and the neighbours what a joy it is to have such a great offering at the Black Horse by its new owners. The mini beer festival is a daily joy and the food just right.
