This pub changed management a year or two ago. They're somehow connected to the Ram's Head in Longton and the Dolphin (Flying Fish) also in Longton. My Wife and I turned up there early one Saturday evening in June and although we hadn't booked, we were show to a table near the bar which was fine. We're difficult customers in most places being vegetarians and although the menu didn't have a huge choice for us, there were some suitable choices. Strangely, the Salad menu had no vegetarian options. My wife asked whether the Ploughman's were pre-prepared with meat on. The manager said not but that it had so many meat items with it that the meal would be a pale version if these were omitted. He made a recommendation which was excellent. All the staff were very attentive and the manager said that menu options may be reviewed in the future. We've eaten here twice under this management and have booked a table for ourselves and a friend for this evening.I should mention that portions are large, quality is good yet cost is reasonable.(that's three ticks in my book)

Went on Saturday 10th Nov to celebrate my daughter's birthday. What a shambles, when we arrived we were told to go to a table look at the menu and then place our order at the bar, no one showed us to the table. Going back to the bar to order I was told they didn't take credit cards and the nearest cash point was across the square - it was but it was also out of order so I had to find another one - by the way it was pouring down so got well and truly soaked! The food arrived and my wife's fish was hardly cooked and my daughters liver was overcooked. When we complained we were told that they had asked us if everythnig was alright - they did but that was as they were serving the food and we hadn't even tasted it then. The new management don't seem to have got it right here and we are certainly not going back there.

Been twice recently can't praise enough the friendly atmosphere, attentive staff and excellent food. Fillet steak was cooked perfectly and good price too. Sunday lunches are great and portion size huge, have recommended to all and sundry, well done.
