Visited the Wheatsheaf for the first time a couple of weeks ago whilst on holiday from Cornwall. We had Sunday lunch which was wonderful and well presented- lovey lean beef with plenty of fresh vegetables and tasty gravy. We booked for the Thursday Steak Special. Fantastic value for money (two steaks and two glasses of wine for £19.95).You are offered a choice of steak and can even reserve your steak prior to eating. The meal was extremely well presented and there was plenty of it. The landlord and his staff were very friendly and courteous and I understand from a 'regular' that the landlord and his wife had taken over the Wheatsheaf about six month ago. I just wish we had found this pub earlier in our stay! Have no hesitation in recommending The Wheatsheaf and will certainly be visiting again when we come back up to Garstang from Cornwall. Roll on next year!
Watneys Red Barrel
Without doubt, for people in the Garstang area, the beer drinkers Valhalla with up to eight or nine choices of "real ale" kept in prime condition by the ministrations of Neal who is the epitomy of the old fashioned barman who are not often seen these days. He is well backed up by a corps of barmaids who are polite, well dressed, efficient and knowledgeable. A shame about his number two who can be irritating at times. The fare is varied, fresh, reasonably priced and well presented, if a little unimaginative on occasions, the highlights being Breakfast from 10a.m. and Sunday luncheon. A well apportioned decor gives the Wheatsheaf an old fashioned ambience. A pity about the loud music which thwarts conversation at times but overall a recommended experience.

Sunday roast was wonderful. Popped in Thursday night for cocktails made by Sarah and Jackie, we had a really good time. Graham. Sue and Neil make you feel really welcome.
Wheatsheaf Public House
After thedisastrous interregnum following the death of the previous landlord, the new management of Graham & Sue are working wonders in the foodstakes. Quite up to the old, excellent standard. Portions are generous - whether sandwiches or main meals - well-cooked and offering originality at a competitive price. There is also an interesting variety of wine. Worth a visit!
