The Old Smithy – RugbyFirst time out for a meal since lockdown, made to feel welcome , felt very safe, tables well spaced, meal was hot and excellent looking forward to next visit
The Old Smithy – RugbyThe staff were great, helpful and went the extra mile for us with service. The atmosphere was dark and tired looking, we’ve been going to the Old Smithy for years and this time it is evident the place needs a lick of paint and a refresh. The corner we were sat in was so dark we had to use our phones to read the menu. There were a number of flies, spiders and bugs in the corners. And my favourite lamb chops has been reduced from a pound of lamb chops to three wafer thin dry small lamb chops...:(
The Old Smithy – RugbyI had my fourth visit to the Old Smithy since the lockdown was ended. I went with various members of my family. We were all absolutely satisfied with everything. The first three visits were during the half price period and the last visit not. The food was wonderful, the standard of cleanliness was first rate, service, although a bit slow was very good. Social distancing was evident with hand sanitizers available. Well done Old Smithy and staff. I like the idea of being able to book on line too.
The Old Smithy – RugbyFriday visit. Steak & Ale Pie, chips & peas was superb. Service was quick. Would recommend & to book.
The Old Smithy – RugbyThe food has always been good. My husband and I came every week for the last three weeks and was never disappointed. The service was fast and good, the staff friendly.
The Old Smithy – RugbyWe visited on Wednesday 26th for my husbands birthday as a party of 9. The food was great, however the service wasn't brilliant (drinks and food all arriving at different times and we were seated in a tent/marquee on the car park. Our tables weren't ready when we arrived and the atmosphere was non existent sitting out there. It was also quite cold and at any minute we thought a car was going to crash into the tent. Like I say, the food was great but maybe avoid the eat out for less nights due to the amount of people there.
The Old Smithy – RugbyCame here on Thursday for the first time in years. Absolutely loved it. Meal was amazing, actually ate it all for once! Would happily go back. Wasn’t too busy either which was nice. Staff were friendly aswell, especially the lady in red who sat us down and took our order. We were stuck in crazy traffic and I was panicking and called in. Staff just said not to worry and not to rush.
The Old Smithy – RugbyI wasn't pleased with my recent visit atall, we had a table booked for 6.00 and didn't get seated till 6.15 I don't understand booking a table if we still had to wait and with a young child it wasn't the best. Then I ordered a few starters and one of them didn't come till my main meal which defeats the object really as they where starters to have before our meal, my other half had sausages and requested for them to be well done which they wasn't so he didn't eat them, then my battered fish was very soggy not how battered fish should be so we didn't eat alot of our food which was disappointing.
The Old Smithy – RugbyHad my 2nd meal at the Old Smithy in the last two weeks - the food was very good, the Covid19 measures were implemented well and we felt safe. We took advantage of the Eat in to help out offer, although we did find the app was not as easy to use as it should have been. The manager Peter was very helpful even though the place was busy - he even tried his best accommodate visitors who hadn’t previously booked. A great experience which we will repeat in the near future. I can recommend the Steak and Ale pie - very tasty.
The Old Smithy – RugbyThe food was lovely, huge portions. All the staff was lovely and it's a shame as the assistant manager is miserable with no people skills and externally rude! Would not return due to her
The Old Smithy – RugbyWe had a meal on Wednesday 26 th August My husbands steak was very good but my fish and my friends were overcooked and dry
The Old Smithy – RugbyWas really dissapointed. Nomally food and service is pretty good but it was pretty dire the other night. I could only get a booking for 9.15, ordered food and it was 55 mins later before it arrived. We ordered Steak which was supposed to be medium/rare but It was so well done it could have been used as a brick. My son ordered Gammon (arrived with no chips). Therr was no condiments so only staff member in sight apart from bar man who then told us just to stop one of the waiting staff. So by the time we actually god some , the food was not hot. Not one person even checked in to ask about our food. I did not go because of the eat in offer as I could go anywhere, but we go there normally and even with the discount it was still poor value as it was just not good. I have to say though its never normally been that bad.
The Old Smithy – RugbyStaff are lovely and pleasant . Service excellent. The food is always delicious. Nothing is never too much trouble for them .
