Another lovely meal with very help staff. I couldn’t fault the service

We arrived at 6.30pm. It wasn't that busy for a Friday night. Right away I was concerned as they are still using their Festive menu!! It's changed since I was last year and there was a piano player in the centre of the room. He was very good. My only negative is that he played 'louder' when a group of 8 ladies came into the restaurant. This meant it became rather noisy and we had to speak louder to hear ourselves. 3 (of the 6) had starters. These were cleared away however we then waited over an hour for our main course. While waiting a waiter did approach us and ask if we'd had our starters! He then returned 5 minutes later with main courses but they weren't ours. They were fir the table next to us who still had their starter plates on the table. I observed the save waiter wandering around with other starters and again trying to serve to a wrong table. I'm giving Cronies Restaurant 3 stars because the food was nice once it finally arrived. But the service was very poor. It wasn't that busy so I'm unsure why the chef took so long to make our main courses.

Poor experience.The dining room is incredibly dark &depressing. We waited over half an hour for some very average food.

Food amazing Staff went out of their way to make us welcome. Please pass on our thanks to the bar staff and restaurant. Value for money and a good choice of food . A huge improvement 0n our last visit

Myself My grandson and my friend had lunch yesterday the steak pie and macaroni were cold and the macaroni all clumped together so we sent them back when they came back the macaroni was hot on top but still cold underneath and the steak pie was still cold as we had waited a while on the food we decided just to eat it when we went to pay I told the waiter who just said I’ll pass it on to the chef the place was nearly empty so not as if they were run off their feet so very disappointed yesterday

Table wasn't ready when we arrived on time, after being sat down for 20 minutes without a drink order, Someone then came took our order. Then around 15/20 minutes later we got out food order took to be told there was 3 items on the menu not available. Then waited another 30 minutes after that to get out food for it to be disgusting. The macaroni tasted like oil and was missing the garlic bread to be told after food was finished there was none. Service was poor food was poor and it was over priced. Won't be back

Very disappointed with the food and the service unfortunately. I ordered the monumental burger, not particularly monumental to be honest, and never got the onion rings as described, and it was very greasy. My wife ordered the steak pie and requested chips instead of mash, she got mash ! When we mentioned it when they eventually bothered to come over and check the manager?? Said he took it personally, but he did nothing about it took our half eaten meals away and that was it. No offers or apology. So we won't go back. I could be more forgiving if it was busy, but only 3 couples in.

Food was good service very slow

Went for a meal with friends last night , food really nice. Met at the desk by someone I can only imagine was having a bad day, grumpy manner from start to finish. We waited ages on our main course , nearly an hour I believe. Last waitress to take our desert order forgot to place it as I think she was due to finish her shift so our desert order obviously wasn’t too important. Very disappointed in the whole experience, first time we have ever been disappointed in the place.

Stayed at the Golden Lion for 2 nights. Had dinner on the first evening which was lovely. The food was fantastic with a great choice. Excellent service. We also had small plates on the second day and breakfast both mornings. All the food was excellent. The restaurant is lovely. The price was very reasonable both for food and drinks. Thanks to all the staff . We will definitely be back.

Our meal last night was amazing, we didn’t have to wait very long after ordering. Food was tasty and well presented, compliments to the chef. Our service from Helen was first class, very chatty and very knowledgeable regarding the food on the menu, she never pressured us to make a decision and gave us time to decide. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary which Helen wish us best wishes, we had our reception in the Golden Lion, 41 years back to celebrate and we were not disappointed. Thank you for an excellent experience.

Our party of 6 was apprehensive at first when our server told us they were out of the 3 main entrees (turkey, salmon, and ribeye). However, the appetizers and remaining entrees were delicious and beautifully presented. Service was friendly.

Been here on several occasions Good Food but service this time very poor . Lack of staff this visit , Never written a poor review before. Staff from the office asked to help out

Food was lovely when it finally arrived waited 20 mins for our drinks and 45 mins for our food people were coming in and getting theirs b4 us so terrible service got the dessert menu but nobody came to take our order so we gave up and left

After a bit of trouble getting in with my husband in wheelchair access not really disabled friendly,we all had a good time and I thought the meal very tasty and good value for money would recommend it

My friend and I had lunch on Tuesday which was delicious. We had turkey and cranberry sandwiches. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back.
