We ate at 5.00pm & were easily seated. It was Fri, so they had the steak offer - 2 meals & 2 drinks £29.95. I had chicken breast & my friend had steak, we opted to have some peppercorn sauce & onion rings. Those onion rings are something else, clearly freshly made using large onions. One portion to share is more than enough. There chips are big chunky homemade, not frozen rubbish. I would’ve liked my black pudding to be cooked to a crisper finish (but it was ok) My chicken breast was really good & not dry or over cooked. My friend said her steak was nice, but didn’t rave about it. For pub food you can’t bet the price, quality & taste.

4 of us drove to South Shields from Hartlepool to do a walk along the coast. Googled where is best to eat for after our walk and this pub had really good reviews so booked a table for the end of our walk and they did not disappoint. 2 of us had the fish and chips and gave them 10 out of 10, I had the king prawn in Spicy tomatoes sauce and my friend had the mussels both starters but with a portion of chips added was like a main course, very nice. Our dog jessie was also made welcome with bowls of water for dogs. Lovely friendly staff and a nice location. Would highly recommend.

The best Sunday lunch! The featherblade beef is my favourite for main course. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Nothing is ever a problem for them, making sure folks have a good dining experience. I actually recommend The Harbour Lights to a couple of ladies who stopped me for directions.

Well-situated pub with lots of parking. Property very clean and tidy throughout. Well-stocked bar. Good standard menu with some great extras and all meals are very fresh and perfectly cooked and the portions are generous. The staff are helpful and proficient and very cheerful and the general atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. Looking forward to future visits.

3 of is went there while visiting south shields on the basis of good reviews. Having been there in the past and remembering it being a bit grubby, what a transformation. Its bright and tastefully furnished. The food was fantastic value, the fish and chips was huge, well cooked and the fish fresh. The pie of the day ( lamb and mint) was packed with chunks of lamb and pastry a cross between suet and short. Desserts were a blast from the past, a clever idea! My own criticism would be lack of any draft beer, but the food more than made up for it.

Having not long returned to the NE to retire and following many recommendations by the locals in The Jolly Sailor at Whitburn, I booked to have dinner with my son last night. What a treat that was..!!! Wonderful food, lovely helpful, accommodating staff and a brilliant location and viewpoint above the harbour and the River Tyne. Thank you so much. We regularly eat at the Harbour Lights, and each time the food has been excellent The staff are always lovely with the customers and there is a really nice atmosphere There were 4 of us. 2 salads, and fish and chips. The salads were very filling, and the fish and chips were huge. My granddaughter aged 3 was well catered for and we had a very nice evening

Me & wife had the sirloin steak with onion rings & was really happy with meal . Service was good but you need another stomach after coz the portions are big

Went for Sunday lunch with the family the food was absolutely fantastic I would recommend the pork belly with crispy crackling , my sister is vegetarian and she said her nut roast was also delicious ,the staff were very attentive and friendly couldn’t of asked for more a lovely friendly place with great food and service highly recommend

Booked for a meal with friends on Saturday lunch-time. First visit. The food and service was excellent. I had the belly pork starter that was both delicious and filling. Fish and chips to follow with real chunky chips. No space for pudding this time round! We received a warm welcome and the staff were attentive. Great to see the place full with people enjoying good company and excellent food.

Our first visit to this charming pub/restaurant with superb views over the Tyne mouth and beaches. The food was superb, proper home cooked fayre. All the staff were superbly friendly and attentive. Definitely be back for more...I may even have space for a pudding next time.! Recommend the chilli beef parmo!

First time eating here in a long time and it was really nice! Only negative for the husband was the onion rings batter was very greasy - other than that massive portions, cooked brilliantly and tasted lovely! Will definitely be back again!
