I am a regular visitor to the Hong Sing and only weigh 22 and a half stone...IT'S THAT NICE !!!! Seriously though, foods decent and it's cheap as chips.. Get in there. Only hour and a half sitting time on the buffet though, I'm still on me ribs..

We have been going to La Casa Vieja for many years now and always found the food to be consistently good. Our last visit was no exception. It's not really tapas, as the portions are large and cost as much as a full restaurant dish. This doesn't really matter, especially if there is a crowd of you and you can order lots of dishes. The specials board is always full of lovely fresh fish dishes. I had the scallops which were fab. The staff are always very welcoming too.

I went on Saturday evening and had a delicious selection of tapas. The staff were extremely quick to take my order but I didn't feel rushed and simply asked for more time. The food was excellent and the service was great. Seeing the owner gave the whole feel a more loving approach. There are too few restaurants like this in St Helens and I'm glad we finally have a few more choices than fish and chips.

We had our Wedding reception here is july 2006, the food was fantastic. the service was second to none. and the atmosphere was brilliant. we hired the whole room for the afternoon and with over 100 guests, they made everyone feel so special. Finally the cost was very resonable.

Excellent Meal, very much enjoyed sometimes not a lot of choice for the more fussy eaters but I really enjoyed it.

I have visited the Charcoal Grill many times and have never come away disappointed. The food is extremely tasty and plentiful. I doubt you will come away hungry. The bar area is very pleasant and you are made very welcome by all the staff.

I have visited the Charcoal Grill on many occasion and found it always to be of great value for money, and the food always of a very high standard. Infact I would say for value , quality and service, it is one of the best restaurants in St. Helens.

The food is always excellent and as the staff are students training, the service is always of a high quality.

I work as a chef in colours restaurant and I think the food is fantastic for the price paid. The staff make u feel very welcome and the outstanding teamwork and work relationships really come across in the food produced. I would really recommend this restaurant.

You cannot go wrong with a meal at the Bottle and Glass. Yes, it is nearly always busy but if you go at off peak times i.e. in the middle of the afternoon or early evening, you should always be able to get a table and your wait for food won't be very long. I have been here on a number of occasions and have sampled quite a few dishes from the menu and specials board. The food is always delicious and is greatly complimented by their extensive wine list. Their Pinot Grigio is gorgeous or if you are a red wine lover, I am told that their Shiraz is lovely as well. The ambience is also something that will pull you back time and time again. It is so relaxed. The tables are lit by candlelight at night as well, which sets a romantic setting. It is also a great place to go for a group of you, although it is a problem not being able to book for over 6 people. But a group of 12 of us went one Saturday afternoon and had no problem getting a table. This has everything a pub needs - relaxing, great atmosphere, gorgeous food and drink. You couldn't ask for more!

Superb Chinese! Mr Chan (Charlie) is a fantastic host and it's a very child friendly place. Waiters & Waitress are all students but good at what they do and extremely polite. We wouldn't go anywhere else.

Having been a big restaurant lover for many years, I love to come back to this place. However we now choose the Sunday buffet as the prices on the main menu are a tad steep.

Nice little no nonsense restaurant, good prices nice atmosphere. I would visit again.

Le Frog Bistro

This has the potential to be an excellent restaurant. The building itself is stunning and the decor is impressive. However, the service is mediocre, with too many wrong orders, a shortage of smiles and, admittedly young, staff who have clearly received very little training in the art of dealing with the public. I imagine the place will improve - the Ormskirk Le Frog is brilliant. I will continue to go there, rather than St Helens for the time being, in the hope that the management straighten out this sadly lacking franchise!

Mr Chan's Restaurant

Not the finest surroundings but certainly the best Chinese restaurant in Merseyside. Mr Chan is a perfect host and creates delicious dishes at a reasonable price. Probably the reason there are so many Thank You cards above the bar!
