I visited the Game Bird on the 2/5/11 with a party of 13 to celebrate my daughters birthday. On arrival we were greeted and seated in a very professional manner by the staff in attendance. Unfortunately that's where the pleasure ended. On ordering the food my partners and my meal arrived in record time but it turned out to be another parties order which we were told by the what turned out to be the Duty Manager to accept the meal as ours. By the time we actually where given the go ahead to start the meal it was look warm to say the least. The rest of the party where given their meals some 45 minutes later. When I approached the Duty manager she advised they where having equipment problems with the kitchen. When i asked her why customers where not kept informed of the waiting time no explanation was forthcomming. As a first time visitor to The Game Bird I dont think myself or my good lady will be in a hurry to return. If I was to mark points out of 10 for The Game Bird unfortunatley they would come in at minus 2.

Would get there early if you want to eat. just left after being told out would be an hour before we could even order food, this after waiting for ten minutes. One staff serving four pm bank holiday Monday. Very disappointed.

I visited the Game Bird today with some friends I haven't been for about 10 years and initially from the outside was not impressed.but once inside we were made very welcome, and the food was lovely. will definitely go back again this time with my daughter and grandson.

The palace Indian st Helen's always a great meal and great value for money been going for years and always return!!

Great food, absolutely loved it! Staff where fantastic and also available for more drinks. Very reasonable price and clean and respectable. Would most definitely come here again :)

Would not give me a glass of water as they wanted me to buy coke.

Visiting the game bird is always an experience great food and most importantly there is always a friendly one to one welcome just love going there.

fantastic place to eat, food is gorgeous and very clean. Staff are friendly and inviting. 10 out of 10 for me.

I can't believe the last comment is 2009!! I rediscovered the Bottle & Glass on my return to live in St Helens and have dined there many times. Service was friendly & excellent (slower at very busy times but I like not being rushed anyway!). If you cannot find anything that appeals on their large menu choice then you should stay home!! I've tried a variety of meals and all have been brilliant. Just off to book again for Sunday dinner ... ...

Hong Sing has a great range of food they are always re-filling the buffet loads of starters to choose from that i often don't get passed them as i am full, the staff are all friendly and helpful we go a lot as it is also easy for parking

visited la casa vieja today and had tapas for lunch,superb quality freshly cooked food,looking forward to visiting mano again,no more la tasca for us, this place is a gem.

Having read so many rave reviews i suggested this restaurant for a night out with my Spanish parents last night ( Tuesday ) and spent the majority of the way home apologising for what was quite frankly an expensive venture into the food equivalent of a placebo. There was nothing good to say about any of the tapas we ate, the only notable factor being the overly sized portions ( which i guess is their justification for the prices ). We were served muscles that were closed over, what looked like a large heap of calamares until we discovered that the majority of the heap was salad, prawns that had their taste cooked out of them, and a couple of meat offerings which were doused in spice to the point where i wondered if we had in fact booked an Indian in error. The only saving grace was the deserts which were well received all round. Expensive, bland, give it a miss!

Visited on Sunday for the roast and thought building and service was OK but the food was not. The veg was quite obviously frozen and lacked any taste the roast potatoes must of been kept warm all day because they looked like they needed re-hydrating plus we did not get any Yorkshire puds because they had run out? (im sorry but how hard are they to make?) only saving grace was the beef was not too bad and gravy had some taste. I will not be returning to this pub again because if you cannot make a roast what chance have you got at anything else? Avoid and visit bottle and glass in Rainford.

would never recommend this place at all. Not expensive, but the food was greasy and the place quite shady in my opinion.

Love the hong sing absolutely gorgeous, went with a partner of mine then went back not long after with my family. Recommend it to everyone. Im going again this weekend with my new boyfriend told him how gorgeous it was cant resist. Staff are friendly prices are good and food is delicious 10 out of 10 from me.
