As usual, we thoroughly enjoyed our annual visit post-GinFest ... a great way to end a fabulous day out. Such a comfortable and relaxing space - we love it here!

My friends and I had a lovey meal last night. Good food and good service as always. We will be back.

Our second stay at the hotel and on both occasions chose to have our meal in the restaurant. Food was excellent with great choice and staff extremely friendly and pleasant. Quick and efficient service. Food was of a very high standard. Would definitely recommend

We had a 40th wedding anniversary meal there on 9th October with two friends. The service was excellent and the food the same, with all four of us agreeing we will go back if time permits as we are here on holiday from Portsmouth England. Megan our waitress for the evening was polite, helpful,as well as very entertaining, which gave us all a great evening. Many thanks to Megan and staff at Cronies in the Golden Lion, Stirling.

My friend and I had lunch yesterday, the staff, service, and food all excellent, great value for money, we will definitely be back at cronies. Thank you.

Went at 7pm on Saturday night. We were placed at the entrance with me in an arch shaped seat and my husband in a chair with his back to the bar. We immediately turned the table to an angle so we could both sit in the arch seat. Sitting in the chair would have resulted in people continually waking past and that would of been annoying! Food was lovely although I had brie to start and it could of been a bit warmer. The main courses were delicious but when serving us the waiter leaned over me to give my husband his food resulting in nearly hitting me in the face with my plate. Why couldn't he just have walked around the tiny table?? The atmosphere was lovely and for our first time I thought the decor was lovely too.

Cramming in tables a bit is loosing the charm as gets too noisy and no privacy to chat Three times had to ask for my coffee Training staff for a more relaxed experience without repetitive requests If your looking to provide high end food experience as what suggesting on website well the above and good service skills and set up for the hotel would help But it's good to see the place busy all the same But control it!!!

I have lunch at the Golden Lion when in Stirling and usually it is a very pleasant experience. I have to say yesterday was quite disappointing. The restaurant was busy and there seemed to be just one waitress doing most of the work. When we arrived she was complaining to another member of staff that she needed more help. She was visibly angry and upset which made us uncomfortable. Also, the cost of the food had gone up . We had fish and chips which was tasty, but the portions were quite small. Afterwards when we asked the waitress if we could have coffee she was barely civil. On top of all that we were sitting near the entrance doors which are very heavy. My husband felt obliged to help guests , some elderly, who could not manage to open the doors to get in and out. Not a good lunch experience.

We enjoyed a great meal last Saturday night. No complaints from any of us re the quality and taste of the food and the staff were all lovely and attentive. Thanks guys!

We went for High Tea during Bloody Scotland and there was a great buzz about the place. I can’t recommend the High Tea highly enough but never have room for the cakes! Service excellent

Had a wonderful lunch with wife and parents. The special of Balmoral Beef was very tasty and a good portion. The decor and ambience here are lovely as are all the friendly staff who make you feel very welcome. The Manageress, Dee? is a great character and full of fun. As a local lad, very proud that we have this historic establishment on our High Street, giving such a great impression to tourists and locals alike. Very good value and with the friendly professional service and setting, feels like a real treat eating here. Highly recommend. Maybe we will try the high tea next time

We had a lovely meal, service was fab, wine was good, only disappointing thing was having to pay extra for cream with my dessert!

Are here a number of times and food is good, on this occasion after ordering drinks and water we had to wait on the water for a while and had to ask again for it, there was no napkins on the table and had to ask for them as well as well as side plates, when the meals came I had ordered fish and chips but was then given macaroni, the waitress did say she would change it for me, but I just took it as felt sorry for the waitress, never the less the food was lovely and would come back , it was a busy day I think for them
