Excellent food, good beer. Well worth a visit. Came when it re-opened in 2007 and chef team completely changed since then. Still producing great food at sensible prices. Will definitely be coming back

Found this place by accident. Driving past it doesn't look anything wonderful, but once you get inside it is totally different. The welcome was great, the food terrific, and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and wonderful. Pricing was very good. Food superb, and one of the best pints of Tribute I've had in a long time. What made it memorable was the pub dog Stitch. So well behaved and those sorry looking eyes. We all wanted to take him home.

If you like an al a carte menu then the Blacksmiths arms is for you. The menu has turned its back on traditional pub food and is becoming more exotic. The prices have also increased recently and the portion sizes seem to have decreased. The service is below average and there can be a wait on food, but if you are happy to order at the bar for food and drinks rather then be waited on and don't mind a wait then visit the black smiths.

This little gem is probably the best Indian restaurant I have been in... anywhere. Unpretentious, clean and with helpful polite staff, you immediately are made welcome - and not the slightly overdone welcome you get in some places. Food's great, always freshly cooked and very tasty. The menu is varied and has the regulars with some rarer dishes not found in many restaurants. Prices are modest but not cheap and this is reflected in the quality of the meals. You will not be disappointed.

be warned if you have children, this place is not for you. Despite making a booking and stating we had children, the owners were very condescending to us, boarding on rude. The food was good, though overpriced and service very poor/slow. Would be good to come for a beer and maybe a meal with just a partner.

I have followed graham the head chef around for the last four years, and have to say it has always been first class. The food is always to the highest of standards. I just wanted to say thank you for looking after us the other evening. You haven't lost your touch.

The Halfway House at Grenofen is under new ownership and is West Devon's latest "gastro pub". The chefs come from The Dartmoor Union, Holbeton, and Tanners in Plymouth, and it shows - the food was absolutely superb on my first visit here. Neither my two highly discerning guests nor I could fault it. Downsides? The bar area is a bit cluttered - the furniture is too big for the limited space. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but a little chaotic - perhaps because they're all new to the job...and there were a couple of strange characters hanging around the doorway as we went in, which could have been off-putting to some. But overall our meal was very good. Beautiful local meat and fish, cooked to perfection with subtle sauces. And the price was very reasonable for a meal of such quality. The wine list is relatively limited but contained some good wines, and was excellent value. I shall certainly go again.

This pub has just come under new management. There was a warm and friendly feel to the pub with definite areas for the restaurant and bar areas. There is a pool table and dart board in the bar area and gardens with spectacular views to the rear. Dogs are also welcome in the bar area and outside as long as they are on a lead, which suited us well. Thank you for the fantastic experience, we will come again.

We came in for lunch and as they were quiet, we were offered a private dining room at no extra cost. we sat looking over a small garden and fountain with a log fire burning. We felt like celebrities. We were looked after by a manic French lady who was the perfect host. we loved it...it's our new haunt!!
