Good service, friendly and good food and good value.
The Old Smithy – RugbyVery nice pup, staff very chatty and welcoming. Good portions nice food.
The Old Smithy – RugbyWent for dinner and a few drinks. The pints were great and well priced. The food was tasty and generously portioned. Had a spillage at one point and the owner was happy to help, was chatty and friendly throughout. Would definitely recommend.
The Old Smithy – RugbyService was really slow, took half hour for drinks order. When food arrived it was plain, overcooked and bland, even though my drinks and food was removed from the final bill it doesn’t make up for a poor experience. Wouldn’t be back in a hurry.
The Old Smithy – RugbyI think the food here is excellent as always, comfortable surroundings nice stuff.
The Old Smithy – RugbyOut of 6 meals 3 had to go straight back to the kitchen, 1 over done steak and 2 burnt chicken dishes. They did give us some free drinks to compensate but it still ruined the meal a little. Staff were very apologetic and friendly so I can’t fault them! Although a bit disappointed I’d still go back as they handled it well and we’ve been plenty of times before and the foods been lovely.
The Old Smithy – RugbyGood food fast service and ice cold beer
The Old Smithy – RugbyFood was good, service was good. The only thing that could be improved is getting the hedge cut back as vision is obscured when leaving the car park and joining the main road. An accident waiting to happen
The Old Smithy – RugbyFood was very good served in good time by excellent staff.
The Old Smithy – RugbyThe food was nice. The new menu isn't as good. I had the king Henry but one about 18oz would be better. The old smithy could do with a good clean as it looks a bit grubby and still have the fly problem.
The Old Smithy – RugbyMy wife and I had the 2 steaks and a bottle of wine deal and I must say that it was the best steak we have ever had at The Smithy or any where else. The Doom Bar ws cloudy, don't know if it was the beginning or end of the barrel. Not a perfect pint but then, whats a bit of extra roughage. Excellent staff. Now my pet hate. I was bought up to follow the basic rules of social decorum. Can the Smithy please introduce a NO BASEBALL CAPS rule like a number of other establishments. In the time that I was there, there were 2 'examples' who were too ignorant to take theirs off dragging the ambiance of the place down. Both the staff and myself knew that if they asked to remove them, they would probably kick off. So nip it in the bud at the door. Contact John Carey at The Millpool for guidance. Apart from that, a really nice meal and time. Will be back.
The Old Smithy – RugbyFood was cooked to perfection. Staff friendly. All current covid restrictions adhered to.
The Old Smithy – RugbyBooked online and then rang up as I wanted to sink The titanic 'steak. So I then wished to ordered the tbone which they had also ran out of. I was very disappointed When I arrived at location I was informed the last steak had already been served. I ordered curly fries as a starter with my salt and pepper chicken strips, however they forgot to bring then out and then brought them out once I had finished. I also ordered a glass of coca cola with my coffee which was forgotten about. However on a plus note the food and portions were outstanding.
The Old Smithy – RugbyLovely food as all ways
The Old Smithy – RugbyExcellent service and food in nice surroundings
The Old Smithy – RugbyNot been for a long time. Menu substantial and food was great. Slow service but I will be back soon.
The Old Smithy – RugbyService was appalling, the staff took half of our dirty dishes away and left the other half for 20 minutes. I had to ask for the table to be cleared. We decided to not to stay for dessert, which was a shame as we took my son for his 14th birthday. Mixed Grill swam in grease on the plate, maybe a dab done before putting it on the plate. Value for money will always be fine as your prices are cheap.
The Old Smithy – RugbyWe arrived on what was clearly a very difficult day for the staff. They were overbooked due to an issue with their system, plus some disruptive diners. Despite this, the service was excellent, they were still all warm and welcoming. The food was really good and good value. Highly recommended.
