Went to the lovely Goodfellows for a pre concert meal - as always super friendly, super efficient and excellent food thanks to all - highly recommended

We were a group of 4 who all chose the Fish of the Day menu - 2 courses plus house wine, so total bill was less than £100, very good value. Wonderful food, friendly and efficient service, unpretentious and relaxed surroundings. We were in upstairs room, so didnt have the open kitchen experience. Will be back.

My best friend and I treated ourselves to the Goodfellows’ three course lunchtime menu during a recent holiday visit to Wells. My impression of the ‘front of house’ lady we encountered upon arrival was that her greeting had a definite touch of froideur about it. However, the man who served us at table was warm, welcoming and professional. Space is at a premium in the restaurant and I therefore feel that the open plan kitchen (which is situated within the inner dining area) would benefit from the addition of an improved air extraction system, especially as Goodfellows is, for the main part, a fish restaurant. That said, the food was simply superb. Cooked with imagination, skill and flair by a chef who clearly puts his heart and soul onto each plate. Each course was a delight. We shall definitely plan a return trip to Goodfellows when next in the area.

Very nice lunch and extremely good value. Good service as well. Just had a simple one course lunch but very happy with flavours and quality. Will be back!

Perfect evening

Excellent food - the Winter Broth, featuring pigeon breast, was exceptional. However, food, and particularly the wine, are expensive

We dined at Goodfellows early on a Friday evening and we’re first in the restaurant. The welcome was not as warm as would be expected, however we were invited to choose our table. The service and the food from then on I felt was unnecessarily pretentious. The quality of the food was ok, but did not reflect the price being asked, which was a fine dining type of price. We were also served a three course meal within about 45 minutes which I felt was inappropriately fast for a restaurant such as this on an evening out. I also felt that the restaurant lacked atmosphere, perhaps because of the over bright lighting. Portion sizes were also quite small compared with the expectation set by the menu. Overall I was disappointed and wouldn’t go back.

Overall a very pleasant experience. Bright, fresh atmosphere, polite and welcoming service and very good quality food. Our best restaurant experience in Wells. Would recommend it to anyone.

Goodfellows has been our favourite restaurant for many years - the food is always delicious, often with an element of surprise so there is no danger of getting bored with the menu. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the whole dining experience is always a treat.

We chose Goodfellows for a quiet 20th wedding anniversary celebration because we knew it would be something special. We were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent.

We treated ourselves to the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. Very mouthful was delicious. Already looking forward to our next visit. Adam, Martine and Renaud efficient and friendly as always.

Really enjoy each visit to Goodfellows. It is the best eating experience in Wells and the food and service have always been nothing short of perfect. Roll on our next visit in February.

The thing about Goodfellows is the consistency of their product. Year on year week on week. That’s why we keep on going back. We recommend this restaurant without reservation.

As ever ... a warm welcome ... amazing food ... friendly and efficient service! A perfect evening out in Wells!

There was a few things that could have been improved, we had to ask for pre dinner drinks as they weren’t offered and our starters came quickly before we had time to finish them, we also had to ask for the wine glasses for our wine , my salmon starter was quite bland and needed seasoning ( none on the table) and my husband’s was uneventful with just some Italian ham draped over some rocket. The kitchen is open to the restaurant which got very smoky and our clothes ended up smelling of food. The main course was good and staff were friendly, I thought it was a bit expensive for what it was.

Had an excellent lunch for 3 off the Market menu. Friendly and efficient staff made us feel welcome as always
