Had lunch on 22nd Oct. Reduced menu due to Covid but the food was absolutely lovely. My wife and I both had a soup and sandwich combo. Parsnip soup with ham hock and chicken sandwich were amazing. Spiced sweet potato and coronation chicken sandwich equally superb. Maple pecan slice and choc tiffin all washed down with a lovely latte. Would definitely recommend and will be going back.

Great atmosphere and helpful staff, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The Sunday lunch was lovely, great home cooked feel. The veggie option was delicious too and the desserts yum. Thanks, can't wait to come back.

Food was tasty. Serving staff great. Wine list could be improved. Not the nicest selection.

Went here on 29th October, intending to have the tomahawk steak, but unfortunately they had none left. However we weren't disappointed. I had the belly pork and my partner the sea bass for mains, and we both had the king prawn starter. All delicious. We just had enoufh room left for 5he sticky toffee pudding, and lefy contentedly full. Service was excellent, my only criticism was that there were no condiments on the table, a minor thing.

Went here for Sunday dinner with family. The roasts are wonderful, large portions too. We had two courses -great value and bread and butter pudding/sticky toffee pudding went down well with kids/nan! Nice atmosphere, great service.

Had a lovely meal with my wife for our "meeting" anniversary, 37 years after we met. Fantastic food, great service and friendly staff. Was allowed to change table as the one given was too dark for me (I have a visual impairment) - the one by the window that we were moved to was much better. My only criticism was the lack of a wine menu, and the cost of the wine; we chose a fairly expensive NZ white without realising , and I think the prices charged for wine are slightly excessive. Lovely night though, and felt safe in the current Covid climate. Will be back.

This was my second visit but my first for the evening sitting. Lucy was our waitress and she was absolutely wonderful (as all the staff are) Completely professional, very polite, personable without being overbearing and catering for our every need. We had a starter each of panko prawns and duck spring roll (which we shared) which were so light to eat and beautifully presented. Just as well that the starter was so light, because we'd decided to order the Tomahawk Steak with all the trimmings as our main. Then a beast of a steak (which turned heads as it was brought out) was presented to us and what a treat it was!! Cooked to medium rare perfection, we couldn't have ordered anything better - what a delight and definitely a cut of steak to tackle at least once in your life!!! Then after a well deserved rest, I really couldn't resist a latte and the chocolate and raspberry tart with fruit compote (so rich and delicious - the compote was just perfect) Just like the starter, dessert was also as light as a feather - I'm still truly amazed at how the chef accomplished this!!! As we were both driving, another bonus to the evening was being able to order my most recent favourite drink - Erdinger Alcohol-free Isotonic beer (only available in a selection of bars) which tastes great and is just like having an alcoholic drink . A perfect indulgent experience, which I'm looking forward to trying again very soon. Thank you Pickled Walnut - faultless!!! x ;-D

Have been twice to eat out recently, during the Help out to Eat Out Scheme. Very busy on both occasions and meals served relatively quickly. Food was excellent, staff attentive and courteous and friendly. Would definitely go again, best meal out we’ve had for sometime.

Booked just for the Sunday roast and ended up having three courses! The fish cake starter was delicious as was my beef roast. The gravy was fabulous! Then it was sticky toffee pudding to finish off. We were looked after my Maddie and Lucy who were rushed off their feet because it was so busy. However the service we got from them was excellent! Thanks for a great evening and see you in the week

First time in a restaurant since lockdown- Tuesday lunch for our anniversary.. My daughter had asked about the moules and it was no problem- the staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble! Unbeknown to us our kids had paid for the Meal and bottle of champagne! Moules in cream and smoked pancetta were delicious with frites and lively chunky bread. What a treat. Small complaint several of shells had shattered and bits of shell in sauce! (Hence 4/5) nit sure about atmosphere was what expect at lunchtime! Staff great and can’t really comment on value but think it good! Will recommend to friends and we will be back! Overall very good. We booked in for one of Rishi's discount dinners, our first family night out since the world ended. It was all a bit chaotic, though the staff were lovely and attentive. There was a bit of a backlog and it took well over 45 minutes for the starters to arrive. We had the salmon fishcakes and they were lovely. Quite dense and filling with the poached egg, but a real treat. My wife had the sea bass, which she said was nice and my son really enjoyed his burger. I had the buttermilk chicken and patatas bravas. The potatoes were lovely and flavoursome, but the chicken was ok in parts, but dry and overcooked in others. The buttermilk coating was also blackened and harder than I expected. TBF, I've not had it before so I wasn't sure if this was the norm, but it ws hard work at times. I was tempted to send it back but the staff looked really under pressure with a constant stream of people at the door, and I didn't want to delay things further. This brings me on to my final point regarding covid precautions. Forgive me if I missed something, but there was no obvious hand sanitiser that I could see, and we were not made aware of any. I would have thought that this would be the first thing to ask people to do upon entering. The staff were not wearing any masks, gloves or visors to prevent possible transmission (such as in pubs, hairdressers, shops and the like) and on the main floor where we sat, people were walking by well within the 2 metre distancing I expected. There were also kids running around and people making their way to and from the toilet past our table. At any other time, this would not bother me, but this is not any other time. To be balanced, we have not been to a restaurant or cafe since the lockdown eased so I don't know if this is how it is now, so I might be off beam here. However, given my job and the need to stay healthy, I am perhaps being a bit hyper-vigilant. We did enjoy our evening out, and once things get back to normal we might well go back. Last night made me a bit uncomfortable though, so I might wait a while.
