Foodie

good food, decent service, shame about the location and no parking but I've eaten there many times with different friends and always come out happy and stuffed :-)

Mahabharat Restaurant – Wigan
Foodie

I've eaten here many times over the years and the place has continually spiralled downhill since Simon Jones took over, the staff are rude, stroppy and some are agressive, if you leave messages no one gets back to you, they have kids waitressing and the waitresses also admin the facebook

High Moor Restaurant – Wigan
Foodie

food is cheap but generally microwaved until it is inedible, even the staff confess they don't eat the rubbish they serve. The kitchens don't even have ovens or hobs, just microwaves and a hotplate for steak.

Charnley Arms – Wigan
Foodie

generally cheap and cheerful but all the drinks are an absolute rip off. I was charged £1.90 for a glass or orange cordial. One visit I mentioned to the manager the party of ants marching across our table and around the window area. We were told there were no ants (and therefore called liars). Upon asking other members of staff they all said the manager was an idiot and they didn't like him. Not the greatest set up but generally the staff are really friendly and the food is good value.

The Vale – Wigan
Foodie

We heard great reviews but were sorely disappointed, sticky tables, badly needs a refurb, dirty menus, below average food and no atmosphere. We only went once and it was quiet but I assume we picked a bad time and were unlucky as I have heard some good reviews from friends

Prince William Inn – Wigan
Foodie

cheap cheerful, pleasant environment (when not full of screaming kids). Excellent value for money, although drinks are expensive - almost as much as a meal.

Bowling Green Inn – Wigan
Foodie

I've only eaten here once with a friend since it was taken over from Le Frog. I loved it - great atmosphere, v accommodating staff, the food was spectacular, I would definitely go back (shame there's no real parking or I'd go more often)

Fat Olive – Wigan
Foodie

we didn't actually eat. My partner and I called in at lunchtime, no one greeted us, we waited at the bar for 10 minutes, in that time no one came to serve us but eight children in various states of undress ran through the bar in that time. We eventually got a drink but it took so long and the staff really couldn't be bothered with us we never ended up getting any food. Place was crawling with kids and the owners/ staff clearly were utilising the entire place and a large sitting room for themselves, we were treated pretty badly! Shame as I'd heard the food was ok.

Casa Carlos – Wigan
gordon

My family and I came to Ashfield on News Years Eve to the family buffet. Firstly we were disappointed that the menu did not cater for children especially not having any ice cream as all children like. Secondly we have been informed that you were advertising on the web site half price for that evening we were very upset to hear this especially as we had spent a lot of money that night. Also I had been three times in December.

I have just discovered the delights of sherringtons in Atherton, having just moved to the area in the last year or so,. I called in for a coffee to shelter from the rain . Looking a the food on on offer i decided to have some lunch, Panini was delicous and freshly prepared , victoria sponge with cream , a large portion and equally as delicious. Followed by a latte with a hint of mint again lovely. The place is very clean and the service fantastic . My partner and i are now regular visitors and what a delight this little place is i would highly recommend it you wont be disappointed.

Sherringtons Coffee House – Wigan
Babs

Unfortunately I was unable to sample their food as they do not allow dogs in the pub. I accept that this is entirely their choice and I do not take exception to that. What I did object to was the manner of refusal, and the statement that allowing dogs into a pub was against the law. I accept that dogs are not always wanted in a restaurant but we would have been happy to dine in the bar area. As our dog is only a shih tzu she would hardly have been noticed, and because of their attitude they lost the chance to cater to a party of eight and so we all went to the Ship Inn a Lathom and had a lovely meal.

went today for a change and because we had rememberd it was quite a good pub, we went in and initially liked the greeting and we were told there was a specials board. i glanced at it and although had initially gone for a sandwich decided to try the lancashire hotpot which i often enjoy living in lancashire. it was priced at 9pounds and i thought it must be good at that price:) what arrived was a dismal slop with a crust on top and i instantly regreted my order. thinking it may taste better i lifted the crust off and discoverd a layer or mince beef and what looked like the left over potatoes from yesterday. As a lancashire hotpot is made with lamb i looked at the board and noitced a mince meat and potato pie so i assumed i had been given the wrong order. The waitress informed me that that was not the case and the chef had just made it with beef. i said that means it isnt a lancashire hotpot, she said she would correct the menu board and walked off. I explained to her that i had ordered a lancashire hotpot and expected to receive that. I had to ask for a change of meal which she was reluctant to do and i decided on the piripiri chicken on a bun. she told me that it may be very spicy in a sarcastic manner and that pirpiri chicken means different things at different places. I said i knew what piripiri chicken was and she slopped off. What arrived as my replacement meal was as bad as the first. A frozen style chicken breat that you may get from tesco, heated up and sat on a bun..this was 7pounds. The experirnce was dreadful, i went in a good mood and left deflated, ripped off and although i dont usually write reviews was compelled to do so.

Had a great meal here a couple of weeks ago. Have had great meals eating in and taking away and they always manage to slip a beer in your hand whilst you wait for the take away to be ready. Really good customer service and excellent authentic food, if you haven't yet try this restaurant!!

Gallimores – Wigan

I recently visited The Poacher for the first time in a while. I was there as part of a work's night out for a colleague's birthday. Considering it was a party of 12, the service was excellent. The food was of good quality, and no one had any complaints. There was a great live band on, which was a pleasant surprise. I can see The Poacher becoming a regular works haunt.
