Food was average, waiting staff were CONSTANTLY walking past every 30 seconds, and upstairs was old folks home decor. Downstairs was lovely, and greeting staff and bar staff were very friendly.

Francos – WiganAndrew and Susan Bamford - Visited September 2008 - our second visit and took 2 friends - they were very impressed and said it was the best meal they had ever had (bearing in mind they have cruise everywhere with P & O this is definitely a recommendation). We would also compare this with cruise cuisine. As ever Howard and his staff were extremely attentive, fresh food 10/10, excellent wine/service and friendly staff. We enjoyed it so much we have booked in for New Years Eve with 10 of our friends and family and definitely know everything will be great.
Gallimores – WiganThis is a local restaurant to me and has always been excellent whenever we visit either for a meal or a bar snack. Staff are helpful and the owners are always around ensuring everything is spot on. Highly recommended.
Wayfarer Restaurant – WiganIf people have enjoyed eating here they must consider McDonalds wonderful. It is, how do I phrase this, I know, absolutely rubbish! It is posh, for chavs. Kerry Katona would love it! If you want a drink you have to get up from the table and go to the bar, oh how posh is this! The background music is wonderful -the sound of silence. The service is second to none, and I mean there is none! It really shows Wigan at its best - I think not! If your standards are low, this is for you. Cheese, cheese and more cheese. Get a takeaway.
Rigalettos – WiganI've been to this restaurant before & its class, my family also come with me (also to Sagar's- HQ @ Clayton Green) My disappointment is that after regularly visiting this restaurant & spending plenty of money for a high quality service, I'd just now booked a table of 8 for me & my family... The call was answered "yeah" I'd asked to book a table "wrong number mate" (with people screaming @ each other in the background!) He wasn't interested in what I had to say with his one word answers: yeah? what? when? bye! After 20mins thought, I've changed my mind & cancelled... Note to Cinnamon: LEARN SOME MANNERS, THEY'RE FREE OF CHARGE!
Cinnamon Indian Cuisine – WiganWe visited the Olive Garden on wed 8th oct. We choose from the new pizza and pasta menu. The food was excellent and good value for money at £4.50 the portions were huge. The waiter Aziz was very friendly we never has to wait long for our food. The head chef Roberto came out to see us when we had finished to check if we had enjoyed our food. Which we did you will definitely be seeing us again soon. Thank You for a great night.
Olive Garden – WiganI would just like to say its been a long time since iv been to such a lovely pub! the food was exceptional as were the cask ales, not badly priced either. and the service from the young girls was also very pleasant. but i have to say that one thing let our whole experience down... the so called manager she was rude, scruffy and down right lazy which was a shame because other than that i would rate it 5 ***** and over all lovely pub.
Wayfarer Restaurant – WiganWent last month, shocking service, there was a table of 10 next to us on the verge of walking out due to the appalling service. overpriced food and not much choice on the menu. there's much better restaurants around and far, far cheaper, Mr Gallimore should stick to fish and chips
Gallimores – Wiganwe went to rigalettos on the 26/09/08 for my wife's birthday the food was reasonable but the service was diabolical a complete disgrace we waited an eternity for our main meal then when we finally got the sweet menu we waited another twenty five minutes but still no one came to take our order so we got up to pay our bill which we waited another ten minutes to pay when i complained about the service to the manager we got no apology just told they were busy. found it funny that a certain millionaire businessman and his group of friends had swarms of staff running after them
Rigalettos – WiganThe best Indian restaurant for miles around,by far. My wife and I have been back time after time, taking friends and relatives to this Jewel in the Crown. If you haven't tried the excellent atmosphere and fantastic cuisine then you are truly missing out. Excellent service by attentive staff coupled with a wide range of dishes make this restaurant our favourite. We've tried Indian restaurants from Goa to the Canaries and Mahabharat still comes out on top. We've been midweek and at weekends (be sure to book at the weekend, it's very popular) and always get the same excellent service. George and the team, have done, and continue run a quality establishment. Top marks from us.
Mahabharat Restaurant – WiganWouldn't eat there again. Service was terrible! We ordered a starter and main course only to be told when the main course was being served to everyone at our table (9people) that they didn't have 1 of the dishes available - so two of us had to reorder and eat when everyone else at the table had finished. We also ordered 2 side orders of garlic bread with cheese with the main course to be told again that they didn't have this as the chef had thrown it away! The had also ran out of two of the deserts!
The Owls At Standish – WiganWe first visited this restaurant around 5 weeks ago and have been back 3 times since. My first impression was how pleasant the surroundings are, lovely, bright & clean with a very warm welcome from Mr Khan and his staff. The menu is extremely inviting and details a host of well known dishes along with a variety of specials. If you are new to Indian food just give this place a try without hesitation, Mr Khan will recommend dishes for the new taste buds, alternatively, if you go on a Sunday they provide a buffet style option where you can try a number of dishes from a help yourself table which is a great introduction to Indian food. The chef here is just fantastic, everything is beautifully cooked and presented and nothing is too much trouble for the staff here. All in all a 10/10 from me and we will be back on Saturday to introduce some friends to the place. Mr Khan is a lovely person and most hospitable and he enjoys a chat with his customers. Never found a better place to eat Indian food since this place. Try it a see for yourself

Cinnamon Indian Cuisine – WiganWe have eaten in many of the best restaurants all over the country and even some worldwide. We challenge anyone to find better food and better service than that found in the spice lounge. Our favourite meal is chicken akabari which we have madras strength.
The Spice Lounge – WiganWe ate with our 2 year old at the Olive Garden last Wednesday early evening. The food was excellent and the staff were welcoming and friendly and made a fuss of our noisy little one. Well worth a trip. Service was quick just what we needed with small child in tow.
Olive Garden – WiganWe eat out once a week and have discovered The Owls At Standish, We recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in good food well presented and sold at sensible prices, give it a try and you wont be disappointed. Marian and John Smith from Whittle le Woods P.S. Wish we had somewhere similar in our own area.
The Owls At Standish – WiganDespite passing the restaurant 3-4 time s a week we had never eaten there. One reason was my wife never wanted to eat Indian food. When some friends came over and really fancied an Indian meal my wife agreed after reading the Sugarvine reviews. Frankly we where all amazed! The food was very good, with a bewildering array of dishes -all first class, with some interesting variations on old favourites. Service is always first class and the restaurant has a really pleasant atmosphere and is always spotlessly clean. You'll probably gather from this review that we've been back on several occasion (twice in one week - at my wife's request) - Now surely there's no better recommendation than that!
