I spent a Saturday evening at Gallimores to celebrate Mother's Datafter having the restaurant highly recommended by a friend. The starter was acceptable but nothing exciting considering it was listed as a 'fine dining restaurant' when I ordered by main meal I requested the Pan fried sirloin medium well done but was informed by the waitress that this dish was only available medium rare and suggested I order an individual steak which I did and ordered this medium well done. When the food arrived my mother and sister had ordered the Pan fried sirloin which was certainly cooked as expected more like medium well done, however my steak was completely overcooked and totally dry. I informed the waitress this was not how I ordered my steak and she returned it to the kitchen - only to return minutes later to tell me the chef had told her 'it was that steak or nothing as it was expensive' I appreciated the price of £15.95 was expensive as I was going to pay it! She suggested I ordered a sauce to go with it to make it palatable which I did. When the bill arrived we asked to speak to the manager who certainly did not want to speak to us, as I took it as quite as insult to be charged £2.80 for a sauce to enable me to eat a bone dry steak - however we could not get him to engage in a conversation - so we paid our bill apart from the sauce - this was despite having a meal ruined by changing dishes and cold vegetables - not what you expect from a 'fine dining' restaurant not to mention atrocious treatment and lack of attention from the manager
