Service very slow meat was really chewy my children struggled to eat it. Will not be returning told the waitress her reply was oh dear.

The staff were friendly and helpful. My curry was totally disappointing it had no flavour at all, it was bland ,dry, and did not taste like a curry at all. It lacked spice and the appearance was just chicken and tomatoes. The rice was like boil in the bag rice and the naan looked as though it had been bought in a supermarket. I ate it as I was starving as I'd just finished work. The onion rings were delicious and homemade and the burger and chips were nicely presented. But the curry let it down badly and I know a good curry. I've eaten better ones from a supermarket

Been going to hold lodge since last year , every couple of weeks for Sunday carvery. Food is great , staff go over and beyond with service , worth every penny , they also have a carvery mid week , will be going there again very soon

A very nice meal in a very nice pub

Came for lunch yesterday, were the only ones there apart from another couple. No atmosphere, meal was OK but chips were powdery. Drinks were luke warm, plates were cold. Had jam roll poly which took ages to come and was hard and dry. Tea was stewed and cold. Service was poor considering we were the only ones waiting . Won't be coming again. Sadly.

After our disappointing Wednesday carvery last week, I am glad to say our meal was back up to standard this week and we enjoyed it very much. I can now highly recommend their Wednesday and Sunday carveries.

We always enjoy the afternoon carvery at Holt Lodge but Wednesday's carvery was a disappointment. The roast potatoes were like bullets and did not taste as if they had been cooked that day and the gravy was very thin compared to their usual tasty gravy. The chef was not serving the carvery so I don’t know if the food was cooked without his supervision. I am hoping that is not an example of the kitchen reducing their attention to detail, particularly as I know we were not the only customers who noticed. I am hoping that usual service will be resumed as it was becoming a regular favourite of ours.

We came as a family for a Sunday carvery and really enjoyed the food the atmosphere was very friendly. The staff were very friendly as well. Will definitely come back again.

The hotel restaurant seems to be going from strength to strength, always a very tasty Sunday carvery and good service.

Went for Sunday roast asked for them to save me a chicken dinner and that what they did good value for money staff attentive nothing was too much trouble and bonus doggy friendly

The food was delicious and the team were very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend visiting Holt Lodge. Reasonably priced too.

Last minute booking for Mother’s Day and what a treat it was. Lovely roast dinner portioned just right, small but perfect selection of desserts and a clean, calm environment to eat in. Very reasonably priced, plenty of car parking at the back and a great front of house team. One point off perfect score because there was no decaf coffee but I would definitely highly recommend eating here

Received email asking to review our meal. Well firstof all what meal? We booked a table received confirmation of booking online and in email. Arrived looking forward to our meal to be told booking shouldn't have been accepted and was a mistake and no tables available we said we would wait to be told nothing all day so turned away. Then receive email asking for review what a joke. Last time we went here the bill was wrong and fair enough was resolved via email although shouldnt have been wrong in first place, and now this. Will not try here again we had a wasted journey and had to find somewhere else

We have visited the Holt Lodge several times now and never been disappointed. The food and the service are excellent and great value for money. The staff are friendly and can't do enough for you.We will definitely be returning.

I just love going to the Holt Lodge...the staff are so friendly and never ever rush you so that they can use the table again....the food there is so nice too....their cavery is fabulous - lots of vegetable and meat choices and it is cooked so well and you can help yourself to the veg .....their lunchtime menu is very good value and although the portions are smaller than normal, if you have 3 courses, you are very satisfied at the end of the meal.....they cater for all allergies (I'm gluten intolerant) and they always find alternatives for you to eat....their chocolate fondant pudding is so delicious with pouring cream.....I cannot fault this hotel and have been returning year after year for the last 40 + years...even had my wedding reception there which was fabulous.
