Very friendly English pub. They offer the now standard 2 for 1 deal seen in so many pubs these days.
What was special about this establishment was the quality of the food for the very competitive price.
It is a cut above the usual standard pub grub.
For instance, the gammon steak is exactly that: a bug hunk of tender meat from the fresh joint, not a reconstituted circle of frozen meat.
The steaks are excellent, the battered cod is spot on and would put a few fish and chip shops I know to shame!
The food is cooked fresh, to order, usually by the landlord himself.
The menu is no-fuss, English pub-fayre, without frills or frippery, cooked well and with care.
Much of the menu is sourced locally and is of excellent quality. The portions are big and filling, and you finish the meal feeling full and very, very, satisfied.
Definitely a place where you can sit back and pat your tummy after the meal!
Good quality food and excellent value for money!
