Crosby Lodge was a real gem of a find in Northern Cumbria. We had a night spare with no accommodation booked. My wife found this old manor house via the tourist office. It's very old fashioned but for us that was the charm of the place. The restaurant food was excellent! We both had curried squash and coriander soup. Followed by medallions of beef on a shin of beef rissoto. Big but not overfacing portions. Very good house wine and a legendary dessert trolley to follow. The owner was a lovely lady who has been plying her trade there for 40 years.
