Superb food, great atmosphere and wonderful help re gluten free/coeliac diet. Highly recommended

After reading several good, no great reviews, we decided to try it out. First impression was good, great atmosphere, excellent waitress and starters. The main courses however were disastrous. My calves liver had the texture of having been steamed and was practically liquid in the middle; one mouthful left me heaving. Whilst my husbands beef medallions looked nicely seared, they too had the texture of being steamed!! Maybe the old chef has left but these meals were certainly not Michelin standard.

Arrived at Tweedies to a fantastic atmosphere lovely log fire shown to our table and the staff were great, food fantastic excellent range of guest beers for my husband and fine wine for me. service top notch this place is a must for foodies cant fault the food best in the village

5 star food for 3 star price!!!! The first hint of genius in the kitchen was the lamb with rosemary and orange, the venison was delicate and delicious. 2nd nite the standard was raised with sweet pepper and applewood cheese stuffed chicken wrapped in proscuito ham. Unbelievable at the price, highly recommended

The food, service and atmosphere at Tweedies bar were all outstanding. There is everything you would want there: a wood burning stove, friendly staff, and an excellent range of guest ales. All this with a cosy but contemporary feel. Definitely the best place to eat and drink in Grasmere

Just returned from a week in Grasmere which was fabulous. We sat in the beer garden during the afternoon and decided later on that week to try the restaurant. I must say that all the food was excellent. The fillet steak was delicious and the duck leg was equally as good. The only problem was that the staff were a little forgetful / dizzy! Very polite and apologetic but constantly reminding them for drinks was a bit annoying. A little costly but for the quality of food I think it was well worth it!
