Had a very enjoyable meal here one Saturday evening in July. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we could not fault with the food, particularly the main courses, although the sweets were perhaps a little disappointing. The red wine we had was excellent and competitively priced. The Pub has an attractive appearance and plenty of character internally. It is obviously popular with locals and has a well stocked friendly Bar. The Restaurant is most welcoming and furnished to a good standard. Not far from Honiton this is good place to meet at and worth a detour if travelling.
Harbow
The Awliscombe Inn has recently had a makeover and is now extremely well appointed. The old world charm of the pub has been retained whilst the restaurant has benefited from a modern refurbishment. The staff are friendly and helpful, polite and courteous. The food is very good. It is freshly prepared as you order. The portions are generous and extremely tasty. In our party of four, we ordered the chicken Caesar salad (extremely good) as a starter. Each portion must have had a breast each. Two of our party then had the lamb shank which was done to a turn with the tender meat simply falling off the bone. Another had a steak which, surprisingly, was cooked just as ordered - no more and no less. Our final member had the duck (cooked pink as stated in the menu) and this was also lovely. I'd highly recommend anyone in the Honiton/Cullompton area to have a meal at this pub. You won't be disappointed.
Awliscombe Inn
The Awliscombe Inn isa beautiful, quaint little pub set in front of the blackdown hills. The se4rvice is first class. The staff are polite and willing to fit you in the restaurant even if they are full. The food is the best by far of any restaurant ib the local area. Their Carvery is cheap and has a wide selection of local meats and vegetanles and it tastes exceptional. There evening menu is even better. You can choose from a whole orray of meals. Such as Salmon and Monkfish Brochettes, Lamb Shank or just a simple Sirloin Steak. All of theis combined makes the Awliscombe Inn graet choice to eat out
