I let out privately owned holiday homes at Marton Mere and I have passed this Public House almost every day over the past 5 yrs, I only live 5 minutes away! The outside is desperate for a lick of paint and it does not inspire anyone to venture in? but today I thought I should take a look, if only for the benefit of my clients to let them know what? is on offer just a stones throw from the Haven (very expensive ) site. Inside is more dated then outside ! but you know what, look past all of that and the atmosphere is wonderful, everyone is welcome and Drew the Manager has only been there since March, the food is good honest pub grub, with homemade pies all day breakfasts and proper mash. prices from as little as £3.99 you are going to be well happy you stepped inside. Oh and if you see the bouncy castle outside on a sunny weekend its FREE !!! KIDS CAN PLAY ALL DAY!!There is talk of the brewery wanting to crush this little gem and build a Toby Inn ( let rally round and hope they invest in this unique little gem instead of a boring old Toby)

We attended the Clifton Arms on Tuesday last week after we where staying on the Haven holiday just across the road. There are advertisement son boards situated around the pub about the food being sourced locally. Just like anything like that in a pub of its size which is obviously a chain you take with a pinch of salt. The fact of the matter is the food is excellent and fresh mashed potato is actually mash and not frozen, there is a wait for your food but its fresh we enjoyed it so much we went back three times including Sunday were the beef was properly roasted. I would recommend this outlet to anyone and can any one tell us what chain this belongs to as I am sure they all must be the same.

Visited this pub on 22nd September 2007 which was recently taken over. The service was shocking, ordered food which took over 2hrs to arrive and when it finally did it was raw and not cooked and when we asked for a refund we were refused. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. DONT GO!!!!
