My ancestors ran the Spead Eagle many years ago and produced two Blackburn players.(who both might have lived there) I have been several times since 2008 whilst researching my family history and found the staff, food and vibe faultless Cliftonlad

Booked a table for 6 adults and one child for a mothers day meal at the recommendation of my sister who had last been about 18 months ago and had had a wonderful meal. I booked the table for 12pm and when we arrived at 12:05pm the doors were just being opened whilst one other very cold couple waited outside. The empty car park should have been our first indication but on entering the pub all of us noticed how unclean the place was. My mum noticed the dust piles on the chairs and my brother-in-law had a very wobbly chair that had to be exchanged. We were informed that "they had had a very busy night the night before" and there was only one rib eye steak remaining, no ribs (which my husband had his heart set on) and various other dishes on their limited 'pub grub' menu were also unavailable. We ordered our meals, most of us having to choose a second best option and upon ordering his pork belly my husband was informed they had no apples for the pork belly but it would be 50 off. We ordered our drinks, all of which arrived either flat (soda water, ginger ale and cider) or in dirty glasses. Upon requesting a clean glass after spotting lipstick marks on her wine glass the waiter took my sisters glass away, merely wiped the lipstick marks and brought it back! This was the final straw for us as we sat in a very cold dining area on three separate tables (no, they couldn't even be bothered setting up a table for 6 adults and a high chair) we complained to the staff member with the bright red hair and left. We then ventured just a few minutes down the road to find two full restaurants who were unable to fit us in for Mothers Day Lunch. Safe to say we won't be going again. (And for anyone interested, we did eventually find a nice restaurant to have a lovely mothers day lunch at) Ashley Fleur

Bad service waited for an hour to receive main meals and then it was missing items which were meant to be in meal. My first and last visit tothe spread eagle. Poor service no interaction with the staff a totally ruined afternoon. Sharon
