At Malabar this week I had an exceptionally good Goan fish curry with steamed rice, followed by mango ice cream. Incredible flavours in the curry. Under £10 for two courses - amazing value, excellent service.
If I'm in Preston again I'll be going back, and I've recommended Malabar to colleagues at UCLAN.

If you are looking for authentic and delicious south Indian food then come here. No question that this is some of the tastiest food I have eaten and the service and assistance in deciding on our dishes was excellent.. no alcohol here but I have to drive here anyway so it didn't bother me! Very reasonably priced as well at around £10 per head.
The dosas are excellent and we also had a melt in the mouth mutton curry with an amazing depthe of flavour. The place doesn't look much but get past that and your on to a winner.

Probably, the best food Ive ever tasted, and really good service - the waiter once listed to me every single thing I'd ever ordered. I've been told its closing soon, so don't miss out on something this special hiding away in Preston!

As mentioned below this must be one of if not the best Southern Indian restaurant outside London. Great Masala Dosas (a pancake like dish filled with veg curry and served with samba and coconut chutney sauce). The vegetarian dishes are great and the meat dishes are too (chicken fry mmm). If you fancy trying something different give it a go, the food is a lot less heavy than the than you usual Indian restaurant. The prices are extremely reasonable aswell and the staff are very welcoming.

This is by far the best place for Indian food in the Preston area and probably does the best south Indian food outside London. If you've never had a masala dosa then you must try it. Great service and a nice atmosphere and very reasonable prices.

Just finished eating my takeaway from Malabar and it was top notch authentic Indian food. This place won't be everyone's cup of tea because of how authentic it is, i.e food served with bones in it, and fat not being trimmed off the lamb. But for taste I doubt it can be beaten.
