The Continental - Preston
Simply Brilliant, but could you vary the veggie menu a bit. Mark N Lucy
Just checked out the Spring Menu online and it's good to see that they have gone back to indicating the Vegan friendly dishes on the menu. Will visit soon and try the menu with a pint of their delicious Continental Bitter. (from Marble Brewery - Manchester) Any chance of Vegan Friendly desserts on your menu in future?? Tree Hugger
I eat at the continental at least once a month, and I have to say that the quality of the food is always excellent. You always get the feeling that no corners are cut in the kitchen and this really does show. There is a specials menu that changes daily so you never become bored of the same menu. I find the prices very reasonable, for example I had a beautiful cheese crusted fillet of Scottish hake for £12 last week. A remarkably similar dish cost me £18 at a local Italians recently and was far poorer quality. The service is friendly and not over powering, which is as it should be in a pub. The wine list is good quality I would recommend the Malbec a bargain at around £14 a bottle. However the real beauty of the drinks at the conti is the vast selection of real ales, German & Belgium beers. There are few places that have anywhere near the choice. The staff are informative and well educated on the drinks and will always lend a helping hand if you cant decide what to have. The continental is by far the best place to eat around Preston city centre. I would recommend bookings as it can be extremely busy especially is the weather is nice as there is a fantastic beer garden. George Yung
My friend and I were visiting Preston for my 18th birthday and we were looking at local places to eat, and when asking for recommendations this was the place to be. so half an hour before we arrived we rang the pub and asked if a table was available for two for eating and we were greeted warmly with a chirpy sounding chap on the phone. once we arrived at the pub there was an instant buzz around us, a lovely warm atmosphere which makes you feel very welcome, we were given a choice in seating and guided to our table. once we has settled, we browsed the food and wine menu's the prices were good value and the food sounded delicious, we decided to share a starter as we were hoping to order dessert. we ordered the honey roasted salmon on a bed of vanilla bean mash and it was divine! - and it only lasted for a matter of seconds because it was that good! following for main we both ordered rump steak priced at £12 which is very reasonable, the food was presented to us in very short time and in huge portions, a big bowl of chips each; mushrooms; tomatoes and a salad served with steak - Delicious! half was through me and my friend were disappointed - We were full. we were desperate to finish but we were stuffed! Afterwards we realised it was quiz night and for a laugh we joined. It was great entertainment and the locals were fantastic helping us newbies along. All in all fantastic night. recommend the continental to anyone and everyone! Compliments to all the staff that made our stay thoroughly enjoyable! SarahSee all The Continental Reviews.
