We went with friends to celebrate a birthday. Have these drinks on the house was the statement from the Maitre "D" which were accepted with alacrity. We had a meal with drinks and extras. Eventually I called and paid the bill supplied without question. Frankly the meal wasn't special but adequate. A while later and discussing same at home we agreed the account was a little over the top. We then examined further and found we had been charged for the " so called free drinks " that is those on the house. We are not poor, pay always what is due, but feel we were ripped off as the chappie apparently was of the opinion we were intoxicated by his "drinks on the house ". We were not taken in, as a further £15.00 had also been added onto the drinks bill, We now distrust the man at this restaurant, and will not be returning to said establishment, their loss as we have had three meals out this week alone, and with the entire family with various add ons, and will not be returning to this money grabbing outfit again.

I first went to Sylhet 25 years ago and I remembered the food as being very good. So on a recent visit to the area when a friend suggested going for an Indian meal we went again to Sylhet. We were not disappointed, the food was exceptional, very well presented with plenty of meat and prawns in the sauces. The owner who leads a great team was there to greet us and the service very attentive and friendly. If I could fault it at all it would be to suggest air conditioning as it was very warm. Overall a wonderful evening with great food!

We have dined here several times and always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. if you do not understand something on the menu they will explain it for you. Also we have eaten here with some friends of ours who are Indian and they requested something that was not on the menu and the chef was happy to cook something different for them. The owner recognises us now when we arrive and always asks how we are keeping. Excellent value also.

finally decided to give a review after going to this restaurant for a long time now.we arrived last night (14 of us unannounced)and was surprised at the number of people who were already in there - it was extremely busy!my first thoughts were the food/service may suffer but as usual both were absolutely fantastic.i am not exaggerating when i say this may be the best Indian food in Preston (and yes i have been in eastZeast).i cannot rate the syhlet highly enough - keep it up !

I have been going to the Sylhet on average every month or two and was delighted to have a good restaurant in my village but have regretfully decided not to use it any more as the amount of meat in the dishes has diminished over time and now consistently comprises just literally 6 small pieces of lamb in a main course, very frustrating if you have a good appetite! The service and quality of the meals is still good but it no longer feels like value for money.

I visited the Sylhet tonight with my wife Caron after reading some good reviews on this site. We only live walking distance away and haven't been for a few years but after reading the reviews we decided to give it a try. I had the Mixed starter and Caron had the Aloo chat, very tasty all round and a nice change from my regular Samosa's. Main meal for both of us was the Lamb Madras, I usually go with chicken but thought I'd try something new. result!, very tasty and satisfying for both of us, washed down with a couple of drinks made the experience something we will repeat soon. The staff were very polite and chatty, even had the table wiped down between courses!! (not that we made a mess either...). We would definitely recommend the Sylhet to our friends, give them a visit. It's so different from the Kohinoor.

My wife and I took our daughter and her boyfriend for Sunday lunch, yesterday -absolutely FANTASTIC! Friendly, considerate staff, excellent service and absolutely fantastic food! It's a fair step from St. Anne's but worth it over and over.....we'll be back!
...and thank you to Sugarvine for making us aware of it!!
Best regards,

Excellent service, fabulous food, well presented and very reasonable prices. We travel from Bolton to dine here, and there are no shortage of 'Indians' in Bolton! Sylhet Bangla is just a class above, as is their sister restaurant, the Sylhet in Langho, Blackburn. Make the trip - you will not be disappointed!
BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN THE NORTHWEST, YOU'LL FORGET RUSHOLME AFTER A MEAL HERE!!

Fantastic food served in this excellent restaurant. By far the VERY BEST Aloo Chat I have ever taste, if you haven't tried it yet you don't know what your missing.
The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, there is never any rush and it's always a relaxed atmosphere.
I would highly recommend this restaurant

I recommend that people MUST go and eat at Sylhet Bangla, it has such a fantastic welcoming atmosphere, you are greeted with such warmth, the staff will go out there way to meet your requirement and make sure that you enjoy meal. I have made many visits to this restaurant for a lovely evening with my friends and based on their consistent excellent service and food, I have also have several family parties and Company Functions here, and I can say that they go out of their way to accommodate you The menu is reasonable in price and lots of variety to choose from and the quality is fantastic. Also there special dishes are to die for. My recommendations are their lamb dishes, always cooked to perfection and melts in your mouth. But what I will say is: I don't live in the area of this restaurant but happily go there because it's so worth it.
