My husband and I have been visiting this restaurant for the last five years and we have always wanted to return. The environment is one of the main draws as it is always warm and cosy with gentle lighting. There are a number of booths that add to the romantic and intimate feel. In my view this unassuming little place is seriously overlooked and the owners deserve much more credit for the care that they put into the service they provide. So often in restaurants things become unsatisfactory when one begins to ask questions about a particular dish. Not in Azad Manzil. The waiters honestly offer their personal opinion and if they cannot answer a question then they consult the chef. This is refreshing if you care about what you are about to be served. I cannot overstate how friendly and helpful all staff have been at all times and I would not hesitate to recommend this place to others. I always walk away feeling well looked after. I can only assume that something not very straight forward is going on for the person who wrote the very negative one star review. In addition the food itself is better than the average curry in the average curry house. I do not eat meat, but have tried many vegetarian dishes and always enjoyed them. However the fish specials are the stand-out. They come as a complete meal with rice and salad and are beautifully spiced/seasoned. My husband tends to go for the house special meat dishes, which he too recommends.I would urge anyone to give this place a go!

I can highly recommend Azad Manzil Restaurant in Chorlton - it offers great food, variety and attention to detail and is well worth visiting. The welcome, ambiance and, of course, the food is second to none. This is a traditional restaurant that has been established for over 40 years and is still owned and run by the same family. Our many visits to the restaurant always leave us feeling pleasantly full and content and with so much choice I have a new favourite dish each time. Last timet I chose the Fish Jalrazi - beautifully cooked cubes of white Bhag (Tiger Fish) prepared with ginger, garlic, green chillies and coriander and served with pillau rice and salad - perfection on a plate! To top off the evening the owner of the restaurant serenaded us with his Sitar, playing wonderful soulful music he had composed himself. We enjoyed it so much we have suggested regular live music nights at the Azad Manzil so watch this space!!

I recently went for a meal at Azad Manzil. The food was superb - all freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. The service was faultless - friendly, attentive and engaging, the ambience and atmosphere were warm and intimate, and for the price, it was exceptionally good value. Highly recommended.

It was refreshing to return from holiday, after having a number of poor - very poor, over priced Indian meals. To eat again at the "Azad". The food is excellent and constantly so. It also has an imaginative, reasonably priced menu with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are very attentive and knowledgeable without being obtrusive, also the owner is normally available to discuss his food, which is a passion for him, hence the quality. I would recommend "The Azad" to any curry fan. The new delivery service is a God send on a busy Friday night.

We came to this restaurant after seeing an six-course meal special offer online. When we arrived it turned out that they hadn't initiated the offer yet, however rather than decline us, the owner/chef agreed to do a special tapas style meal for us, as we had only come for the offer. When it came it was enormous - six dishes of mains, rice, naan, and starters all of which were cooked perfectly and delicious. He couldn't have been more accommodating and showed great pride in his work by coming out twice to check on our opinions of his food, even though it was on a discounted menu. I would advise everyone to try this place it is a rarity that such good food and service go hand in hand. Not only that but the place has real character and you have the option of a semi-closed off private booth to eat in. I honestly cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant, I shall certainly be going back.

We decided to try the Azad Manzil after being warned off the "curry mile". Very glad we did, excellent food and service. We will try our best to combine any future visits to Manchester with a trip here for an excellent meal.

I visited Azad Manzil with four friends on Sunday evening. It was fairly quiet in there but we still had a very enjoyable evening.
The staff were attentive and friendly, making recommendations from the extensive menu and giving us all a shot of Bailey's on the house at the end of our meal.
The food was tasty and good value, we particularly enjoyed the Tandoori Lamb chops and the extremely tasty Chicken Kurma (korma).
The Manager of the restaurant, Babu Azad (I think) is proud of the long and successful history and loves to entertain with tales from years gone by.
Now is the time that we need to support our local independent restaurants such as Azad Manzil as we do want to take them for granted and risk losing 44 years of beautiful tradition.

The staff, the food and the owner are all fantastic. The varied menu is a joy and I have tried nearly every dish. I go with my wife and family every week; we also have the special buffet menu on a Sunday £7.95 per adult/half price kids. 3 different curries, 2 starters, poppadoms, salad, ice cream coffee included, superb choice. This is in my opinion the best and friendliest Indian restaurant I have ever been to, and going tonight with my family, Go and enjoy. Keith Phelps
