You just can't beat Demuths for vegetarian food in the south west if not the UK - it's loved by non-vegetarians just as much. It's by far the best vegetarian restaurant I've been to. They have lots of vegan and gluten free options too. Make sure you book if you're going for the evening on a weekend!
Demuths – BathHaving previously eaten at the sister restaurant in Bath, I tried Loch Fyne, in Bristol. The ambience was great, The staff are very chirpy and offer an extremely good service and is really clean and tidy. I was more than happy with the price & the menu selection. We had Oysters to start, with Lobster to share and champagne and desert, all reasonably priced and very romantic (PS I do recommend the Oysters & Champagne combo!!) Will go back again!!! A real treat!!!
Loch Fyne Restaurant – Bristol City CentreThe gastronomic experience was mindblowing, but the Thai wine unremarkable. Go for a bottle of beer instead or just some water. I would travel some distance to visit this restaurant again.
Blue Ocean – Weston Super MareI?e heard a few poor reviews of this restaurant in the past, which frankly confused me. My party and I found every element of our dining experience to be of a very high standard. I highly recommend it.
San Carlo – Bristol City CentreAt last it has gained recognition, and won a Vegetarian restaurant of the year award. We have been eating here for years now and Mark and Paul continue to produce Gourmet veggie food. Imaginative, seasonal ,local where possible, ingredients expertly cooked. Great selection of very well priced wines. Now always booked well in advance but definitely a must try, even for non veggies.
Cafe Maitreya – Bristol City CentreTHE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, WE WENT FOR THE SET MEAL FOR 6 OR MORE PEOPLE AND IT WAS AMPLE FOR 17.95 EACH. WE HAD FOOD LEFT OVER. THE SERVICE WAS QUICK AND CHEERFUL, THEY COULD NOT DO ENOUGH FOR US. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE BEIJING TO ANYONE.

Las Iguanas – CliftonOh Mamma Mia!! On first walking in, you straightaway get whisked off into the culture of Italy! With the pictures, decor and the casual and cosy table settings. The atmosphere is friendly, and the waitress was hopeful in helping to decided on which dishes warranted the honour of being ordered! The restaurant itself is very small with the tables quite closely situated to one another, but this didn't take away from the intimate & hilarious conversations going on all around. The menu has a very good selection, the only problem being many of the dishes aren't described. At first glance it may appear a little extensive, especially to a Uni student such as myself, but actually its still average in the spectrum of things. The service was prompt and the waitress came around at intervals to make sure all was well. I ordered a Salmon & Pasta dish (unfortunately can't remember it's name!) which was nice, however the creamy natural of the sauce did get a little sickening after a while. Looking around our table, one would say the portions were generous and the presentation fair. Just as we where finishing, a number of customers started entering, meaning that is was harder to get the attention of the waitress in order to get our bill. Overall a very cheerful place affording comforting warmth, with lovely selection and service. Extra notes! The restaurant is well situated with Trenchard Street Car Park being reasonably priced and near by. As with many popular places it is advised that you book your table in advance.
Mamma Mia – Bristol City CentreI had the pleasure of visiting this establishment when it first opened and I have just been back. It still looks as clean and tidy as it did when it opened, the staff are very friendly and bend over backwards to help. The kitchen always looks clean and the food is always hot, the way the wood burning oven bakes the pizzas give them a truly remarkable taste. I would recommend this place to any one.
Zizzi – CliftonGreat location and trendy relaxed feel to the place. Staff very helpful. The service would have rated very good, but we had a wait of almost an hour between starter and main. What seems to happen is because you cannot book, everyone turns up early at about the same time which creates some problems in the kitchen. We went Saturday evening. Would definitely go again.
ASK – Wellsa cosy environment that was reassuringly busy on a weekday. service friendly yet unobtrusive. the food was served very quickly presumably for a quick turnover but happy to delay dessert when asked. speaking of the important bit...the food! wonderfully and uniquely combined variety of flavours and textures served in generous quantities!
Juniper Restaurant – Bristol City CentreMost of the people I?e met in the restaurant over the years have become avid regulars. The "La Grotta" sauce is to die for. And now a No smoking policy! Great intimate club downstairs finishes a party off. Proper job

Demetris Taverna – Weston Super MareThe four of us decided to go to Sands on a Saturday night - to be fair it was the Valentines weekend so the staff were very busy but we booked an early meal (7pm). However on arrival we were not greeted and made to wait for a good 5 minutes or so until anyone came over to take our reservation name. They disappeared again for a while until eventually we were taken to our table. Things looked up as the menu is fantastic, we got drinks promptly and the atmosphere was great. Our starters came and were lovely - a bit on the small side for the boys but delicious all the same. We then waited for the main meal which did not appear. After about 20mins a waitress came over to ask what we have ordered which did not fill us with confidence or look very professional. Another wait of about 15mins. I went up and asked how much longer the meal would be and was told it was right on its way. Another wait and then it appeared. It was very good indeed despite have got lost on the way - especially the lamb. We went on to have an apple and honey smoke - sickly but a lot of fun, and some apple teas. The food and atmosphere was superb, the service pretty poor - we actually asked for the service charge of £12 to be deducted from the bill - not some thing we would normally do but we got no apology for the lost mains . I would go back as have a great night and hope that the bad service was a one off.
