We had lunch at the Navy Tavern on a rainy day by the sea. The food is pretty good, I had a lovely poached salmon and potatoes, although the pub itself is a little rough around the edges. The lady who served us was fabulous with my 7 year old nephew which helped us forget the shabbiness of the pub.

Booked for Sunday Lunch last week for 1pm. We were seved at gone 2 only to find there was no meat left on the carvery and minimal veg etc. Very Poor

My friend and I enjoyed a lovely two course meal and a cocktail using a promotion voucher. The food, drink, service and music was excellent . Fast , attentive service with a smile and very friendly relaxed atmosphere here. All staff at the restaurant helped us have the best possible service. We shall recommend this venue to others with no hesitation.

I have visited Harry Watkins regular on Sundays and had a meal there in the weekday, absolutely fab carvery always packed, wise to book in advance, exceptional value for money and great tasting food always. Friendly family run establishment highly recommended

You would have to pay me to go back to this place, called off for lunch on a Saturday, the place smelt like unwashed feet and the place was dead, when we requested a table for 5, myself my husband and family, the lady that approached us had the look of horror (and not in a sweet way, i have never been looked at with such disrespect) and told us we would have to wait with our children in the bar as she was on her own.. the way she spoke to us was, at best, patronising, at which point we walked out.

My partner and I have attended 3 times in the last 3 weeks, Excellent on both service and food. Have recommended to family and friends.

Just had the worst fish and chips ever! I never write a review, but this was sooooo bad I just had to warn others to not go there. First there was no fish ready so they cooked it "fresh" NOT what I'd call it. My fish was wrapped by a girl who's hands were so dirty they looked like she'd been cleaning a coal fire, I got home and the batter was stuck to the paper to the point where I in the end didnt have battered fish. I threw it. It was so greasy, I will never ever go there again, and advise anybody else to avoid it too. Go to the chippy just up the road in Killay I wish I had. No wonder they originally had one star out of five in the environmental health visit. Seriously bad, I hope the owners read this and address the issues.

Homemade roast potatos? Dry inedible. Meats were like leather, service staff just chuckled when complaint made. owner seemed genuinely shocked at complaint but when food obviously so pre prepared quality will never be good. food was good in 2007 chef has either changed or got lazy. shame was looking forward to the food here 4/10 and thats generous.

the best place to have food

This place used to be a wonderful pub but has recently gone downhill. The food was wasn't worth the money and half of the meal stated on the menu wasn't on our plates when it arrived at the table. Felt very uncomfortable during the meal as the surroundings were unclean. The carpet was full of obvious stains and looked as though it hadn't been hoovered in weeks! As a person who hates spiders I can't forget the cobwebs lingering above our table! As we were leaving unsatisfied we overheard 3 other familys complaining about their food and service.

Fantastic meal, fresh ingredients, unknown (for me) italian wine veeery good, service very friendly and professional, price are a bargain considering the quality. Too good to be true. Highly recommended

I had NEVER sent food back before I visited here for lunch with friends. I was met with what I would consider to be a very hostile attitude and was told they would only refund half of what I'd paid for my food. Having worked as a waitress in the past, I tried my best to apologise to the staff for asking for my money back and was given an earful by the waitress who said I only sent the food back because of my "personal preference" for a sandwich that was quite obviously not piri piri, rather mayonnaise with huge grains back pepper, which I found very uncomfortable to eat as they were actually scratching the inside of my mouth. Absolutely disgusted and would advise anyone looking to eat here to find somewhere else.

CARDIFF'S HIDDEN GEM, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!, not only is food amazing,the staff or just as good, friendliest establishment i have ever been to. I can't believe i used to walk passed this place on a daily basis, now i cant walk down clare road without going in, the prices are very reasonable if not under priced. Only down fall is the owner is a man united fan but hey you cant get everything right can you hahah

As always last nights meal was divine, freshly prepared, tasty, plentiful portions and service and hospitality beyond compare

Lovely place good views ext pity about the food. Had sea bass and saute potatoes no veg or greens on the plate,chef doesnt know how to make sautes potatoes they where more like fried potatoes and cold and rubbery. Wont be back untill they change the chef

We visited last month with our daughter on the way back to take her to University. It is absolutely fantastic value for money. The food was beautifully cooked and the staff very friendly. We would recomment it to anyone even vegetarians.

Sadly this is no longer a restaurant but just a take out place, but I still go there every week. There are no other chinese take-outs like this place. I used to go there when you could sit down for a meal, and I still go there now when my friends and family all unexpectly come round and I can't be bothered to cook. They are the first place to go to because not only is the food incredable but the service is super quick (even McDonalds don't serve food this quick when ordering for the same number of people. Fact!). Sometime when I just don't know what to chose they are rather helpful and make suggestions and even change some of the ingrediates to suit individual needs. Not many places to that. Thats why I find no other place in the whole of South Wales compares. If you want to treat yourself go to the Swallow you won't be disappointed :)
