The Farmers Arms – NewportTo be brief every thing is good about this place we have been on a number of occasions and always find the staff pleasant and friendly not as one of the other customers commented on.
Nant Ddu Lodge Hotel – Merthyr TydfilThe Garuda is the hidden gem in Swansea and the only authentic Indonesian restaurant in Wales. It has a real family atmosphere - more like eating in a friend's house than at a restaurant. In addition, it has a BYO policy (no corkage charges) which means you can bring your favourite wine which certainly reduces the final cost of a meal. But people come here above all else for the food. It cannot be described in words - it really has to be tasted. When we were there I had the tastiest chicken satay I have ever eaten, followed by a really spicy beef rendang and special noodles. My partner had chicken soup as a starter followed by squid in a yellow bean sauce and gado-gado (mixed vegetables with s[icy peanut sauce). And to finish things off - really strong Indonesian coffee. The bill? £54.25. Afterwards we had the added pleasure of meeting the chef and owner - Ani - who is really charming and comes from Sumatra. She explained that everything is freshly cooked and that she grounds all her own spices, etc. to make her really delicious sauces. I can't recommend it highly enough. My only worry is that it will become too popular which means we will probably have to book weeks in advance to get a table there.
Garuda – SwanseaThis is a fantastic restaurant if you like stunning indonesian/thai style food. Superb vegetarian options as well as meat and fish. Lovely casual atmosphere, excellent, friendly service, nothing is to much trouble. B.Y.O wine, you should go there and see for yourself!
Garuda – SwanseaWhat a lovely pub and restaurant the views from out side are wonderful and the food is outstanding
Cross Inn, The – TenbyRichard and Georgina have boundless energy and eager to please, with a very friendly welcome, they are the perfect hosts. Very nice setting, lovely log fire, great pub food. We felt like old friends. Thanks
Red Fox Inn, The – CowbridgeWhen I visited the Mountain Gate a few weeks ago I was astonished by the transformation of the building. Not only that but the food and service was exceptional, I will be sure to return there as soon as possible as I extremely enjoyed.
Mountain Gate, The – AmmanfordLast year 2006 Valentines day menu was good but the main usual menu was far better. Wine prices from £20 and ranged way above. The restaurant was beautiful with a large chandelier and soft music. However the service last year was very poor. I would not go back on Valentines day again because of this. The waitresses were too busy to serve us properly and when lots of people had booked under the same surname as us we were questioned if we had the correct restaurant!!! I believe that this is because we are young (22 at the time). Just because we are young it doesn't mean that we can't afford to eat there, I'd like to add that we paid our deposit in advance, therefore it shouldn't have been that hard for the staff to find us on their list!
Bayside Brasserie – CardiffGenerous portions, excellent views, good service and reasonable prices.
Bay of Bengal – TenbyA good night had by all, what with the food being piping hot and delicious, the staff were friendly and to top it all the entertainment was fantastic, we had such a nice evening we booked for the whole family for Sunday lunch, we will be visiting the waterloo in the near future.
Waterloo Inn – NewportHaving eaten here on several occasions, I would like to say that the standards of this establishment are consistently excellent, from the moment you are greeted at the door, to the food and service, a pleasureable experience that I would recommend to anyone interested in good dining.
Foresters Oaks Country Inn and Leadons Brasserie, The – NewportFantastic authentic Thai Food. One of the best I've been to. The staff are friendly and the location is fab...right on the sea front with great views of the bay & Mumbles
Bay View Bar and Thai Dining, The – SwanseaFrom the moment that I stepped into this place, I felt a warm, friendly atmosphere. The food was home-made and so delicious. The service was really good considering how busy they were! Also the place is brilliant for a night out, especially if you enjoy karaoke, dancing, good music and more!!!
Three Mariners, The – TenbyA lovely, welcoming pub with a lively, friendly atmosphere. Good food at good prices, and top entertainment. Can't beat it.
Swan Inn – PorthcawlA party of us ate here last night, and even the most reticent non-foodies had to admit that it was quite outstanding. The setting, staff, talent, inspiration and hard work were a delight to experience. Children were catered for effortlessly. An exquisite menu, including Braised Oxtail, the memory of which will linger long, and a Hot Chocolate Fondant dessert, the stuff of which dreams are made. Congratulations to Justin, Kate, Claire, Cyril and Christophe. If you're looking for a special evening out and don't want the fuss of travelling to and from a large city, then head for Abergavenny. This town, much to many people's surprise, is more than 'markets and mountains'. At present it houses a gem of a restaurant. Hurry and try it.
La Brasseria Italiana – AbergavennyI used to frequent The Three Crowns a number of years ago whilst lodging at John & Maries guest house next door..I was working at the Elf Terminal in those days... I have many fond memories of happy nights and lunch times at the Three Crowns I've been in Asia(Japan / Korea) for the last 7 years but hope to visit the area again one day. Names I remember were Agnes,Marilyn,Topsy and young John the great snooker player who worked with me. Also John and Marie and family who made me very welcome at their home. It was a good time for me.Please pass on my best wishes to all who remember me. Great area --great people and a great bar. I am now working in South Korea supervising the construction of the LNG ships for the Qatargas South Hook terminal at Milford so maybe I will get back ther yet. Best Wishes to all there .
