I bought into the hype and went straight to Lucy's on my 1st night in the Lake District, and my was I disappointed!!! The service was so horrible that I actually left feeling unhappy; the food looked like something out of a supermarket take-away bag... and I have no doubt that the drab salad leaves were exactly that! The dessert was nothing like the glorious pudding I'd anticipated, and the cost for all my dismay was way, way too high!! I eat out a lot (twice a week of late) as I travel quite a bit with my job, so I've learnt to be very accommodating of different eateries and regional tastes, but heavens!!! Lucy's is flailing on all counts! The hostess was out rightly rude, the waitresses depressingly dull, and the duck no better than a "2 dine for £10" supermarket special! Plus what is WITH the menu??! I'm only 27 and I was struggling to read it! It's neither cute nor cool... get a graphic designer, or go to a professional printers, that is just poor! I imagine that Lucy (and oh how I'd love to meet her and tell her to her face what I make of her establishment) thinks it's very clever to name drop guests on her menu, but I think her time would be better spent actually preparing the menu items! My deepest sympathies go out to anyone who actually paid to attend her cooking classes! Wow... my displeasure runs deep, but I'll stop here, with 1 final comment on hygiene: my table was sticky and dirty and despite my request to have it cleaned, it remained so! I've never felt so uncomfortable in an eatery, not even at my local kebab shop... it was horrid!! All in all: Lucy's On a Plate = Deep Dissatisfaction On a Plate! (...and in the décor, and in the service... and in the whole squalid affair!!)

A great place to eat, Staff very pleasant and very helpful. We go every week for lunch and sometimes dinner and is always excellent, fresh food cooked to order good value for money, what more do you want? Well done Oily's.

we came to amigos for a quiet Saturday night meal - and we were not disappointed.despite having booked we arrived late - no problem. we choose a quiet corner where the 5 of us sat with loads of space to lounge. we decided to eat where we sat (cellar bar) rather than go upstairs, again - no problem. the staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. for starters we shared two combos, excellent beginning for what was to follow in between we shared various iced cocktails. the mains were gorgeous; chili prawns, enchiladas and mine, which i think was the best, seafood burritos a fantastic medley of seafood and rice mixed in a wrap with an eye catching mouth watering salad - as you have probably guessed by now, a very impressive and enjoyable meal er - no - experience!!

Visited Keswick for a short break this week and ate here twice the burgers are scrummy recommend the wellie beefburger and chicken cheese and bacon burger. Very friendly waitress she was lovely

Visited here last Wed 4th May lovely decor and friendly staff tasted the best lasagna ever. My son enjoyed the wild boar and husband enjoyed the chicken pizza will return again.

An extremely friendly and well run restaurant. The food was both inventive and delicious, beautifully presented and certainly fresh. A really wide choice of flavours on offer with particular attention to 'foraging' finds. The staff were informative and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Well priced too, a three course meal at £30.00 was bursting with flavour, variety and colour. Our family enjoyed an extremely warm welcome back on our 2nd visit, much the same as our 1st. Can't wait to go and be spoiled again.

I can not believe that no one else has reviewed Zest Harbourside. First of this is a busy popular eatery in Whitehaven set right on the harbour-side. The menu covers everything from light snacks to a choice of meat, fish, veg or potato dishes that you can mix and match to suit your tastes and leave your taking that one more mouthful too many. I have eaten in Zest a number of times and have never had a disappointing experience, the staff are good, the menu has something for everyone and the prices are very very good. There is always a well stocked specials board and a good bar, the only downside is that you can't book a table its strictly first come first served. Well worth a visit anytime.

One of the best in West Cumbria.

My family and I have visited the Hare and Hounds at Bowland Bridge on many occasions over the last few years and the present owners who took over late last year have transformed the place. We visited twice over the 2011 Easter break and can thoroughly recommend the food and ales ( the twice cooked chunky chips are to die for). The staff are first class and always take the time to chat to customers. Meals are served all day, so if you are in the area don't miss it

Spent a lovely evening at Her Citi recently at one of the acoustic music nights they put on. Great food, a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and quirky, fun decorations! Looking forward to visiting again, and can only recommend it to anyone that hasn't been.

A fabulous pub with all the right 'ingredients' Great real ale, excellent food, warm friendly reception from the locals, and the family run owners. A visit is a must!

We ate here for my birthday after hearing such good stories about the food. Absolutely lovely - both the food and the staff. We will definitely be going again!!

Quite a good meal with my wife. Service was slow but the staff were friendly and Angela very helpful, young drinkers unfortunately ruined the atmosphere with bad language & rude behaviour later on in the evening. Would prefer to sit in the bar like we have on previous occasions to eat as the restaurant isnt the cosiest even though it has just been refurbished and the bar has a lovely log fire & old fashioned features. Desserts were a let down for me as they were not homemade as before but still an ok quality just lacking the wow factor to finish off on.

Popped in for an early evening meal, a little disappointed to hear the young couple who have had it left in January, however the meal was nice & service ok too. The food isn't quite as specialist as before so if you are more of a foodie & you have been before you will notice a big difference, just not as rustic & homemade as the previous offerings but nice all the same.

Fabulous welcome, fabulous rooms and absolutely stunning food. Well prepared and intriguing in description, dishes turn out to be delicious every time. The staff are warm and friendly and everyone is approachable to he with questions and queries. We will go back again.

Excellent service, good quality food items, and as a Trainer/Assessor in the Hospitality Industry it is good to see places offering good quality at prices everyone can afford. Definitely recommended.
