Maxis – YorkThoroughly enjoyed cod and chip supper 2 November. Returned next night to try the curried prawns - delicious. Lo Nice venue, and excellent staff.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyGreat pub and fantastic food.....Best in the area by far !!
The Crown Monk Fryston – GarforthThought we would just drop in, Monday early evening etc. but wow so glad we booked! The restaurant was heaving with diners. Service, menu choice and wine list were outstanding. From traditional fish and chips to oysters or lobster a feast awaits. It’s fame is fully deserved don’t accept a cheap imitation.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyReturn visit after two years away due to Covid. Enjoyable food with prompt service and attentive staff. The only negative point for me is the lack of low/zero alcohol drinks available. As I was driving, I would have appreciated my needs being reflected in the drinks available. For me, sweet soft drinks are not suitable for a meal. More and more people are looking for low/zero alcohol options for health and for safety. I feel that Sambuca needs to move with the times on this issue. Also, as nice as the parting gift of a tot of Sambuca liqueur is, I was unable to enjoy it as it is a strong alcoholic drink. At home it would be lovely, but not if driving.
Sambuca Ristorante Morley – MorleyWe had a fabulous meal - midweek for my lad's 12th birthday. We clicked off with creamy oysters that tasted of the sea. Then a seafood pot - wow, monkfish - yum and haddock and chips for the birthday boy. Proper seafood, well cooked, proper portions in wonderful Whitby - what's not to like?
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyDisappointing. This place is on our doorstep so I really wanted to love it - but it just didn’t deliver. Inattentive bar staff upon entry - despite the place being very quiet. - felt like we were intruding. Not great for front of house! Early bird menu - very limited & still not all options available. Went for fish for main course & was full of bones but in fairness, this was corrected immediately & another fish prepared. Food ok but nothing special/ we were there during Teesside restaurant week but at normal prices I’d have thought it not worth the money - and the a la carte menu looked expensive but also very limited in choice. Just something missing with the atmosphere. You get the feeling the place doesn’t really know what it is, but just doesn’t really work. It’s not dress up or dress down. Not fancy or casual. Would maybe work better as a bar rather than restaurant - beer & gourmet burger bar maybe? Whatever … I won’t be going back in a hurry or recommending to anyone. A real lost opportunity for what could be a lovely venue in a great spot.
Vine – MiddlesbroughMe and my family have been coming to Fuji Hiro for YEARS, easily 15 years. I do miss the old faces but the new changes are welcome - the new additions to the menu are great, the sushi, fried chicken and steamed buns are an absolute treat but nothing will beat the best Gyoza I’ve ever had. I constantly tell people to visit Fuji hiro which I now regret as I tried to visit on a Wednesday and they were fully booked and when I went this Wednesday; I booked and it was extremely busy but staff were good even under the pressure. It is worth the wait and I can’t sing their praises enough.
Fuji Hiro – Leeds City CentreGood food and service is fantastic. Thank you to the staff and especially to the chef.
Oshibi Korean Bistro & BBQ – YorkArrived a bit early. Very cold and no one else seated.1st opinion on walking in was are we in the right place. Chairs and decor very scruffy. The bbq tasted good but way over priced .we only had water as we could see how much it was going to cost.the bbq for consists of a bowl of cos lettuce, 2 small dishes of meat and a trio of dips. That cost £19 ....seriously. we had to order extra rice ,meat and lettuce at extra cost.for 4 people it was just shy of £100 never again.
Oshibi Korean Bistro & BBQ – YorkBooked a table for 5 and a 3month old baby, the staff enquired wether we wanted a high chair or a baby bouncer which we thought was very kind. The food and service was fantastic the menu was full of tasty dishes, between us we had steak and fish dishes the steaks were cooked perfectly ,and the fish was fresh and tasty would definitely recommend
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyWe didn't feel very covid secure lots of coughing in the restaurant the fish was very mediocre very soggy batter
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyHad a most superb meal. I have eaten lobster Thermidor all over the world but this was the best and the cheapest. Absolutely incredible.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyVisited the Magpie cafe on 12 Nov. Had to try the fish and chips and fish pie had been recommended so my daughter and I shared. Regular size battered cod; more than enough. Both dishes delicious. Light batter, fluffy chips and creamy fish pie with plenty of fish. Service good, friendly staff. Lovely
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyFantastic food fantastic people fantastic service we have been visiting you for over 15 years and will continue
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyGreat venue and a very social feel to it. Staff and food were excellent and the main course meat platter beat us. Recommend!
The Aegean Taverna – HullBy far the best food we had all week. Never fails.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyAlways fabulous to eat at The Crown. There’s consistently great food and a warm welcome from the team. The new loft bar is a fabulously chic space, perfect for pre-dinner drinks. Thank you for a fantastic evening
