We were VERY disapointed both with the food and the grumpy service, please and thank you would de nice. The fried Hadock was very oily, we have had mutch better, and certaily bettee at our home town chippy!! It was sooooo disapointing as we were looking forward to it, our advice is don't waste your money or time, go somewhere else. And before this review gets slagged off, we spoke to some locals who said don't bother before we went, but we had already booked, we wish we had taken the advice.

Superb experience from start to finish. A warm welcome on the door, great service and delish food. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely brilliant. Loved my fish pie. My partner he had fish and chips and he said they were the best fish and chips he’s ever had. Great service and felt very safe and good Covid protection

Great food and service plus great views across Whitby. Highly recommended if you are visiting Whitby it’s a must! We also visited the chippy downstairs which was very good however the lady serving was the rudest person ever which was Such a shame.

Fantastic time, we had seen James Martin here on one of his TV shows and it looked amazing so we booked and it really lived up to its expectations. The best fish and chips we have ever had along with the best back drop of the church on the hill...

Great food, great location

Eaten here countless times and for the last two nights. Staff are wonderful and food is fabulous. Will be back, as always.

23rd June 2021 - We had a lovely meal at the Magpie we booked a table, glad we did as they were very busy. This is our 2nd time at the Magpie and the food and service was excellent.

Our favourite Thai restaurant in the area! Such a cosy little place and great food! If you love Thai food you’ll love it here!

2nd visit on our week's holiday in Whitby and still our favourite. I had crab salad for starters which was quite large for a starter but lovely. Hubby had the octopus starter which he enjoyed. I then had the halibut from the specials board, served with new potatoes and asparagus, again a huge portion so I had to leave some of the potatoes but it was very good. Hubby had crab and chips from the specials which he liked but there was an awful lot of chips and he couldnt finish it, this dish was perhaps a little overpriced in comparison to my crab salad starter. No room for a pudding again, just a coffee. The Magpie is always our first choice when we come to Whitby, can't be beaten.

Food was fantastic, my partner had fillet steak and it melted in your mouth, i had scampi which was lovely, the only thing i would say it is a bit pricey for just being a cafe if it was a restaurant i would hesitate paying the prices

Lovely food, couple of complaints 1, girlfriend had normal size cod and I went large but you could not tell the difference unfortunately 2, couple of years ago I swear they did sourdough bread as an extra, bring it back if u did
