The best place i have eaten ever! Its amazing, the staff are brilliant and really really friendly, wonderful, truly irresistible!

Dined here for my husbands 60th birthday. asked for a good table and was seated about a foot away from another couple even though no-one else in. Couldn't have a private conversation. The meal was very, very disappointing. Very bland. Mine was duck with lots of fat and hardly any duck and was sat in a jus which tasted strangely of fish. That was the only taste in the whole dish. Chef seemed to have forgot to season anything. Pianist didn't start til 7.45 just as we finished our meal. Not recommended. 4/4/09.

Possibly the best eatery in Harrogate. I've tried all the other "well recommended" and "snobberised" restaurants in the town and nowhere comes close to friendly, personal, high quality and relaxed dining with a superb emphasis on quality than the Tannin level. The range of dishes are superb, they have wines to match every course, plus a a fantastic selection of curio wines, and a real focus on making your dining experience exactly that. If I was to chose anywhere within North Yorkshire to eat, I'd be here every evening... 5 stars, and a pat on the back to the owners, chefs and staff that make this restaurant the place to be...

Stunning food with fantastic service. The venue is chic and great attention has been paid to every detail. Van Zellers was recommended to us and we travelled to Harrogate to find it - well worth the trip!!!

Great restaurant with lovely food at an excellent price. VERY BUSY so make sure you book, because of this it is sometimes a little noisy but this all adds to the ambience and the service is always very good.

Well for 3.50 for a full roast dinner you can't go far wrong - not gourmet cooking by any standard. Veg is frozen, but the turn over is high enough to stop it standing for ages and there is plenty of choice. Best is the cauli cheese. Choice of Ham, Beef and Turkey with stuffing and yorkshires (frozen), roast and boiled taties - overall a good meal at a good price.

DITTO to other comments! Lunchtime on friday, saturday and sunday there is a mongolian buffet where you choose the ingredients and they cook them in front of you - as much as you like for around a fiver! Evening you get a platter of starter then can choose a range of dishes from the menu - you start with four then when finished order more until you are stuffed. All these come with a big bowl of fired rice and for a staggeringly low price - between 6 and 10 per head depending on which day and what time you go. You can also add extra courses such as soup and crisp duck. Don't go expecting chips or to share one dish that's not how it works but for excellent food at excellent price and super friendly and helpful staff try the RED DRAGON.

We went for a special birthday meal mid week and it lived up to all our expectations. We had walked past Embers many a time and have always wanted to go, so a birthday was a good excuse to pay that 'little bit more'. It was worth every penny though and I have to say the porcini mushroom soup is the best soup I have ever had in my life. I recommend sitting on the terrace for the ambience - you can't beat it. Even with a pre-sinner drink, a shared bottle of wine, dessert wines and three course meals, the bill was less than I expected - which was a bonus!

On a recommendation we ventured into Bradford to go to Anam's - to be honest I'm surprised it's been so overlooked? This is a beautiful restaurant with a wide and varied menu covering all sorts of Indian cuisine. Aside from the a la carte menu there is also a buffet available for £12.95 which is fresh and tasty - we went for the buffet and there was plenty to choose from. We had lamb kofta-type sticks, pakoras in a lovely, light batter and chicken tikka to start - all very tender and aromatic. A selection of curries, chapatis, naans and vegetable dishes followed and we were too full for dessert! The staff were very attentive and friendly and made us feel very comfortable. The place is pretty huge and one of the guys told us they have Indian wedding parties there a few times a week - this sort of speaks for itself! In the middle of the restaurant there's a pool filled with the most enormous catfish and koi carp - intriguing and unexpected but really it just added to the experience! The restaurant isn't licensed and we drank a jug of mango lassi - thick and creamy and just what we wanted. I highly recommend you try it for yourself and see! If you're looking for an inexpensive feast (and I honestly think feast is the right word here!) then Anam's is your gaff. Hope you find this useful!

The best Thai Food I've ever eaten. Full of flavours, not full of sugar and oil like most others. Each curry dish actually tastes different from the others on the menu. The soups, fish, meat, salads, rice, noddles and everything are superb. Great vegetarian options as well. Gary makes you feel like you've been dining there for years and Juree's cooking is a spiritual experience. THIS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS! Prices are great and there's early bird specials and set menus. Go to Thai Sabai and you 'll have a meal they'll keep bringing you back for more!

Lovely place! Nice staff, nice atmosphere, nice food and nice prices - cant ask for more..Their early bird special, of 2 courses for £6.99 was ideal.

An excellent place to enjoy home cooked pub food, the staff are extremely friendly and you could not enjoy a better country pub atmosphere. My husband and I highly recommend a visit no matter if you live local or not.

If you want to eat the best Indian food ever then you need to go to ZOUK!!!! I have been going since it opened 2 years ago, fantastic atmosphere great staff and delicious food and deserts!!! visited the new one in Manchester too wow ZOUK is getting better and better go on team zouk!!! much better than Akbars and EastzEast!!

Excellent place that you must visit. We have eaten at this restaurant twice now, Jan 08 and Mar 09 on each of our last two visits to York and thoroughly enjoyed it each time. The menu is interesting, original and delicious, the food is reasonably priced and the service is second to none. The atmosphere is intimate and friendly and due to the lateness of our booking we had to eat early (6.00pm) to be able to get a table, but were compensated with a choice of a complimentary bottle of red or white wine. Given the place is nearly 3 hours away from our home address we can not visit as often as we would like, otherwise I would be there every week, but I have to say it is one of the reasons we choose to visit York when we can get away.

Simply amazing food and a lovely atmosphere. Going for my second visit this weekend.
