The Moorlands Inn – HalifaxTried to get in somewhere for Mothers day and was lucky enough to get a table at Blanc's and wasn't disappointed. Had the fixed menu which was very good value for money (£11 for 2 courses, £13.70 for 3 plus a glass of wine), even with paying the extra for a glass of champagne rather than wine. The beef roast was from a good joint and could taste the difference compared to similar priced restaurants. This was the third time I have been back to Blanc's and I am now sure it is my favourite place to eat in Leeds. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the decor is tasteful and in keeping with the converted mill surroundings. The service is the best in Leeds. The staff although young, are extremely pleasant and friendly without being in your face. The wine list was impressive, based on a bottle of Malborough Sauvignon and a bottle of Sancerre, both highly recommended. I would recommend anything from the grill, and also the snails for starters if you can stomach the thought of eating them!!
Brasserie Blanc – Leeds City CentreI booked for a meal for a party of 9 in March 2009. We were all extremely impressed. The ambiance was charming, the food superb and the service very good indeed. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have no vested interest: it was a meal for a (low key) stag party from London and only found the restaurant on the web.
Vennells Restaurant – RiponWent as a party of 6 from work. We ordered 5 main dishes (Karahi Ghost x 2, Chicken Chilli Balti, Masala Fish, Chicken Ockra) and five starters (Liver Tikka x 3 and Seikh Kebabs x 2). As some of the party were asian, we asked for the dishes in the 'Apna' style which really spiced proceedings up. Cannot recommend highly enough. Woof woof.
Akbars – Leeds City CentreTook my mum to this restaurant for Mother's Day. A dreadful start as our table that had been pre-booked was given to another party and staff then trying to find room for us. We were seated and I must say the meal and all the staff were fantastic. Great fresh food and great value for money. All in my party had a great time and will definitely visit again very soon.
Woodside Tavern – Horsforthbest takeway food ever. never been let down in the last 17 years. always prompt delivery and very friendly.
Cookys – Leeds City CentreMe and my boyfriend go every month now because we know we can have a nice night out with good service and delicious food and we cant bring ourselves to try anything else. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Saffron Desi – YorkI ate at the brasserie with family for a Birthday treat at lunch time on 14 March 2009 and we weren't at all impressed. The service was dreadful. Several times I had to leave the table to find staff to ask for things (more drinks/bill etc.) yet the restaurant was very quiet and there were plenty of staff. The starters and main courses were ok but nothing special but we ended up sending the desserts back. one of our party had the fruit crumble which was basically a dish of runny fruit sauce with a very few large lumps of some hard substance on the top masquerading as crumble! To add to the effect it had poured over the sides of the dish and looked very unattractive. My dessert was chocolate pudding which was basically a very dry piece of chocolate cake with some chocolate sauce on the top. To be fair, they knocked them off the bill but as we didnt actually eat them it was a token gesture. I actually had to go to the bar to ask for our bill and the girl who I asked gave me a very irritated expression! When the bill was brought to us the girl who brought it literally slapped it on the table as she walked past! We were left feeling that our comments on the desserts hadn't been well received! One of our party was very shocked by the overt rudeness but as it was a birthday none of us felt inclined to make an issue of it and further spoil the occasion. I can cook better myself and I dont appreciate such appalling service so I wont be going back and I am contemplating letting Mr Blanc know what a mediocre offering we got from his franchise in Leeds!
Brasserie Blanc – Leeds City CentreBeing Mothering Sunday, Prashad had put on a special 'Love Your Mum' Vegetable Platter on the menu, as a starter for two persons to share. This was difficult to resist with such tempting choices as Baby Hara Bhara Kebab; Bread Bataka Vada; Vegetable Cutlets; Mini Chaat or Bhel; Peas Kachori. The result was a gorgeous titlation of our palate with a rich variety of aroma, flavours and mouth-watering taste. We also had a Masala Dosa, Rengan and Peas dish and Kichdi. The Mum in the party was totally delighted with the meal. We shall make a point of coming here on Mothering Sunday next year.
Prashad – BradfordFirst class Mothers day Sunday lunch, absolutely lovely, and a pretty table decoration of tulips made it a very enjoyable lunch. Will definitely be back.
Coore Arms, The – NorthallertonThai Erawan Restaurant,Roundhay have the most helpful friendly staff. They cater for allergy sufferers(coeliacs, nut allergy etc..) making a most pleasurable dining experience. The food is fab 10 out of 10.
Thai Erawan Restaurant – RoundhayI visited the restaurant recently, after the refurbishment, and have to say how impressed I was with the total experience. The decor is wonderful, the staff were attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. Fresh local ingredients have been sourced and cooked to a high standard. I would definitely recommend a visit to the restaurant.
Pizza Figaro – PickeringI got a takeaway from the harrogate place - binned it! meat stringy and 'old tasting' not marinated - flooded in oil! Yuk
Jinnah – Flaxtonbest take out in north yorkshire very good 9/10
Raj Rani Tandoori – Harrogatei love the Rhubarb triangle. We have a toddler and they have a fantastic menu for little ones including an organic one. The staff are always really friendly and happy. The food is lovely (although i do wish they would put Chocolate Orange Cheesecake back on the menu!)
Rhubarb Triangle Brewers Fayre – WakefieldFantastic service, great food... The Pizza's really are to die for, the staff are all friendly, family run i think.... and before 6 its BOGOF on main pizza's... a bargain! You even watch them make the pizza's from scratch and cook in a traditional stone oven in the main restaurant room. Have been back numerous times, took my friends/partner/work colleagues and enjoyed it every time.
Italian Pizza Oven – Rotherhamvery nice food, friendly staff and yummy sweets, very reasonable priced as well. They cater for veggies, (8 types of curries), be aware of curry with karela - it's really bitter, I couldn't finish it.
Punjab Sweet House and Chargrill Centre – BradfordWhat a disappointment - all the things I loved about this restaurant have gone now that Yogi and Luigi are no longer there. There was a dirty glass on our table when we were seated which I had to remove, we had to ask for our ordered wine after the starters were served, we had to ask for steak knives after our main course was served, the waitress asked 'do you want any more wine pouring' after my husband had just refilled our glasses, the lobster thermador (an extra £5) was a disappointment - it really is a shame because the meal cost £90 for 2 and wasn't worth it. We won't be back and we will warn our friends of the changes too!
