We had two visits to the Frenchgate in January 2009 and were thoroughly spoilt. Excellent wine list, delicious food ,superb room and our host David and his staff were brilliant and knowledgeable. On both trips we took one of our children who found the food "devine"... Would definitely return as the town of Richmond is a really interesting place to visit with or without children.

I have been visiting this great little place since the day it opened and have have always been impressed by the quality of food and standard of service which is friendly and efficient. The range of food on the menu is impressive and there is a fabulous choice of breads/ bagels/wraps to go with the imaginative fillings. Always worth a visit when in town!

The service at Chaophraya is appalling if you go there late in the evening. My party of three rang early in the evening to check that it would be ok to arrive at 10pm (restaurant closes at 12am). We were assured that 10pm would be absolutely fine. We arrived at 10pm as planned and it was immediately obvious that the waitresses just wanted to get us out as soon as possible so they could go home probably. We were rushed into ordering. The wine menu was taken away without us even being asked if we wanted any. The starters appeared after literally 2 minutes and weren't very hot - freshly cooked? Don't think so. One waitress seemed to be extremely impatient and stood literally 2 metres away from our table and just stared at us the whole time we were eating. This made the whole experience really uncomfortable. The waitress then cleared the table and poured the remaing mineral water, spilling lots onto the table, she didn't even come back to clean up after herself. After that the bill was plonked onto the table. We were counting out the money and then the dish was immediately taken before we'd even finished putting all the money into it. Basically it was the most rushed meal I've ever had. This service is the worst I have ever experienced, anywhere on the planet, for any cost! Chaophraya is not cheap and the food isn't even that great either. Do yourself a favour and go to McDonalds instead - the food and service are better.

This is an excellent eating place- the Shoulder of Mutton on the menu is superb.The service is good and very friendly. They always have a menu for those suffering from Coeliac disease (Needing Gluten free food)

Just tried this place on the back of these review - we were not disappointed. Lovely meal - sea bass with pesto and posh fish & chips. Lovely service & good ale. Busy on a Monday night, which is always a good sign. Recommended.

We had a great Sunday lunch here. The weather was a real mix - spells of rain, sleet and even snow! So it was good to sit near the fire in this cosy cafe. We had Chickpea, Peas and Spinach Curry with Pitta bread and also a Mediterranean Vegetable Crumble. Both came with very imaginative, scrumptious salads. We also had a warm, plum and apple slice with soya cream. It was wonderful cooking and we had a most pleasant meal experience. We shall certainly come again soon.

Loved the atmosphere in this restaurant - felt very relaxed and very authentic (although others may disagree with me on that). The crystal prawn dumplings and the chicken katsu bento box were delicious and very filling, so I couldn't manage anything heavier than lychee ice cream for dessert, but that was also excellent. Will definitely visit again!

I have been a loyal customer of Prashad for several years and have enjoyed the mouth-watering tastes. Prashad for me is like mum's cooking, real, fresh and full of love.

A great range of vegetarian food, really enjoyable, the food was delicious and we all had a good time, I will definitely be telling friends and family all about the magic at Prashad

Fantastic place to go and the sunday early bird special is a great bargain especially if you need to get the kids out of the house, the staff are very friendly and provide a fantastic service. The food is delicious and can never be faulted. Its great for post midnight meals too and as they are open till well into the early hours you can always be sure they will be there. thanks guys!

We went to BED on a Friday night, at 6.45. We were welcomed and offered a drink at the Bar. We were shown to a delightful table and studied the interesting and varied menu. We chose a starter of tempura vegetables and Deep Fried Brie, both lovely, them we had Rib-eye steak and the pork. Again both were excellent, the rib-eye being especially excellent as it is extremely difficult to get a good rib-eye cooked as we like it! We then finished with a shaped desert. Excellent, we shall return. Thank you.

We mainly get take-aways from here but have to agree with the other review the food is stunning. By far the best Indian restaurant / take-away for miles. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is never a letdown. If you want to be totally satisfied then you need to go.

Had a superb lunch at the Frenchgate. They have introduced a credit crunch busting 2 course menu for £10.95. A bottle of Peroni wet my whistle (£2.80) and I began with the Smoked Haddock, Leek & Parmesan Tartlet with soft poached free range egg, hot and tasty, the egg yolk perfectly runny, crisp pastry perhaps slightly too hard. Next Confit Leg of Duck With braised red cabbage, spring onion mash & vanilla poached plums. A delicious combination, sweetness of the cabbage and tang of the spring onion in the mash lingering into subtle vanilla with the acid of the plums, the duck not fatty at all. I added a dessert of orange & cardomom creme brulee, soft and creamy with an excellently thin & crisp brulee top (£2.95). A jug of iced water was free. Coffee, tea and wines available at extra cost. For a total of £16.70 you should be beating down the doors for this top quality lunch bargain!

As a fan of fine dining, I was very impressed with The Burlington. Everything was done to perfection yet with a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere. The lunch menu is excellent value for money and the food a delight to eat, with really clever dishes on the menu. I will definitely be paying another visit soon.
