Not been before, recommended by a work colleague. Beautiful setting, especially when the sun is out and you're sat in the garden. Loved the food and wine and my boyfriend said the real ales were very good. Old and rustic with a good friendly edge, will certainly visit again

The young French chief is able to produce very good food. Been there for around two years now. Bar manager knows his customers. One real ale. First class selection of bottle beers and draft lagers. food specials most days.

I travelled 20 days in UK, and at Frenchgate we had the best meal. My son cannot forget the lamb he ate. The risoto was also wonderful. Furthemore, the ambient was great, nice place and the people very friendly. I felt at home.

I loved this restaurant...fantastic all round! Try the house wines and pasta dishes...you'll be amazed!

The bay horse is very welcoming with a lively atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and efficient. I will definitely be returning there for another satisfying meal!!!

Lively, friendly atmosphere created by larger than life 'real Italian' staff. Varied and tempting menu and great choice of specials, all superbly presented. All round a great night out.

This is a very good Italian restaurant, the food and service are outstanding. So far this is the best Italian restaurant I have been to.

Fantastic describes this restaurant. The young staff were very welcoming and service delightful in the full restaurant. We had an outstanding meal and everything was beautifully presented. The chef came out from the kitchen to ensure all the customers were happy with their choice of food and the dining experience was one of the highlights of our few days holiday in York. Dont miss it, but do book a table, they could not accommodate us on the Tuesday evening when we went the first time

friendly staff & they always seem to be open when you need them. Watch out for the funeral teas though

I can highly recommend Kongs. My wife and I are regulars and we never leave disappointed. The food is always excellent as is the variety of dishes offered, particularly for the low prices charged. A little gem!

Had a fantastic meal at Estbek House in Sandsend, it was our wedding anniversary and we wanted to book something really special; there website seemed to fit the bill and the menu seemed like we both would be happy (my wife likes seafood & I don’t) - also read that they were reviewed by the Teligraphe and the Times. Had eaten at other local placed before, always enjoying our meals - but sometimes feeling a little rushed. This was very different; we were greeted as we walked by everyone saying hello - the kitchen looks divine; since costing me a lot in having our kitchen redone! We were then got two glasses of a pink sparkling, along with the menus. After we ordered we were shown to our table, by the window with a fantastic view, the waitress came over and decanted our wine, explaining the owners had some of the wines specially shipped over, quite a rare treat, and not over costly at £23. The starters (a bubble and squeak basket filled with mushrooms) were delicious, my main (Shiraz Steak; again the waitress said another idea they picked up while visiting the vineyard our wine came from - cooked to perfection; mind you I could not work out why I did not get a streak knife, until I cut into it that was - it was like soft butter!) My wife had a seafood selection, ½ Lobster, Mornay & Halibut, commenting that the Halibut was the nicest she had ever tasted, we were both happy! Again the desserts & coffee’s were superb, the staff were so kind and chatted with us, even asking where we were staying and recommending places to visit. We managed to try a few old Armagnac’s and suddenly realised how late it was, we had spent all evening at the restaurant, not once did we feel rushed - and the restaurant was full. The food was superb, the wine divine but most of all the staff were friendly. They say on the site ‘leave as fiends’ - we did! We have a weekend break booked later in the year, guess where we are stopping! Enjoy, we did!

My husband and I came across this bar whilst wandering the streets of york. It is only a couple of minutes from The Minster. Its an amazing bar with several floors and an outdoor heated patio area. We returned each night and there was always something going on, quiz night, singers, etc. Everyone was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I would definately recommend anyone going to York to pop in for drink or food.

I have eaten at this establishment on a number of occasions as I find everything very pleasing. The choice of food, the wine list, the staff, are all excellent. I have my favourite dishes, the chicken & spinach pancakes being one of them, but I can honestly recommend Cerrone's to anyone.

The Farmers is an excellent local traditional pub. The ambience is friendly and the food is both whole and hearty and the best value for money in the Holme Valley. The staff are particularly attentive, there are good guest beers and on the whole it is exactly the sort of pub a village needs.

I place my order of 1 pizza, usually twice a week, my speciality is the Hot Shot Pizza, it tastes lovely.

As you may have guessed by now this is my favourite Indian restaurant and they have added a new range of dishes to the menu called 'Desi'. I had the Chicken Desi last Monday (It's about Madras strength) and it was fabulous. Try the early bird special too from 5.30pm not sure what time it stops, £7.95 for starters and mains from the menu. Very reasonable. So it is not surprising the restaurant was nearly full by 6.30pm on a Monday evening.
