fantastic food and great service good atmosphere but very busy on a friday night

Very nice food, but don’t take bookings so generally a long wait for a table at busy times, but definitely worth it

25/06/07 My wife and I spent a week in Richmond mainly for the hiking and sightseeing - imagine our surprise to "stumble" across this fabulous restaurant. On our first visit the whole experience offered by the host David Todd convinced us we MUST come back on our last night in Richmond. Everything sampled both times was outstanding. Do try the "house" gin and tonic and the local Richmond Ales in the lounge while deciding what to order. One of the finest dining events you will find anywhere.

Food was very good I was very impressed. There is the buffet as well as the menu and to say its only £6.95 for the buffet it's not bad at all especially when you have a selection of 6 starters, 10 main dishes and 4 deserts to choose from. I would recommend this to anyone and I'd put it on par with Anams (in Bradford). The only downside is the parking which is on Bradford Road and the view outside is jot exactly great but inside the decor is modern and hey I only go there for the food which as I said is excellent .. try it out.

Excellent Curry! The staff are extremely polite and helpful. The delivery service is prompt and reliable. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed.

we have been here a few times now and its has always been excellent in both food and service well worth a visit, they have their own outside seating area with patio heaters so you can sit after your meal and enjoy a drink with them as well and i know the smokers amongst you will appreciate this. service is second to none well done guys you deserve it.

Gorgeous - Gorgeous - Gorgeous! My husband and I have just had a delicious meal at the Frenchgate Hotel. Faultless from start to finish. With superb recommendations from the proprietor; David Todd, we indulged in speciality gin & tonics, good beers, fine dining, superb wines and the most delicious cheese board you could ever wish to grace your palate with. Everything about the evening was just stunning. Without doubt we will return to enjoy the superb dining experience we encountered tonight. This has just become our new 'favourite restaurant!'

well what can i say this has to be the best restaurant i have ever been to. only two kitchens i will eat from one is my mums and now zouks. it is supa zouka.

Went upstairs to this restaurant one Sunday evening in June. We were enticed in by the "Authentic Chinese" claim in the front window. After being some what dubious we were both very surprised at the quality of the food that came out from the kitchen. Coming from Australia we have had some excellent asian food in the past and this was right up there. The food takes a little longer to get to you but it is fully worth it! They have only just started cooking Chinese at the premises, prior to this it was standard pub fare, fantastic spicy sichuan Chinese food from a great young chef. The Habit are on to a winner we believe...

Aldo's is well worth it. The ambience is laid back, fun and welcoming. The staff are old school Italian. The specials board is regularly updated and the regular menu is large enough for you not to get bored. All in all and easy, good night out.

Fantastic food, great service and not expensive at all..... We found this little place 3 years ago and now its our favourite restaurant. Its not flash, just good food and service.

From the beginning to end I found every aspect of dining at the Frenchgate thoroughly enjoyable. Both the service and the food are of outstanding quality and I would strongly recommend a visit by anyone, could not recommend it high enough.

Brilliant food and wonderful atmosphere, log fires and very friendly staff, will be back no doubt about that.

While I found the restaurant a little cramped and the service a little slow, the food was excellent - especially the peppers with mascarpone - and they serve a killer Mojito. Definitely come early or book, though.
