We spend a really lovely morning in the spa, having pre ordered our lunch by 1pm we were really ready to eat , but we waited a very long time for our food , having to ask the very friendly waitress twice about our food, I must say the food was delicious, but then had to wait again for our desserts . This would iam afraid put us off returning to the Restaurant any time soon .

Loved the dining room. Decor fitting for the location. Not a grey wall in sight ! Food was ok, but as previously mentioned by someone, the plate was cool. The waitress was very good and attentive.

I ordered pan fried duck, the duck was lovely and tender but only warm not hot the potatoes were stone cold, beans wrapped in bacon also cold not to mention the plate which was also cold. Very disappointing to have well cooked food served cold - not impressed. Same problem at breakfast food not hot and plates cold not what I would expect from a good restaurant.

Although the staff were wonderful, I was really disappointed with our meal. We stayed DBB and on the evening opted for the 'posh fish and chips'. The food arrived quickly and although the fish was well cooked, the rest of the food on the plate was very poor. The chips were stone cold, my pea puree was non-existent and under the bunch of cold fries was a load of what I think was completely burnt capers (hard to tell as they were so black). When one of the lovely waiting staff came over to see if we were ok, we mentioned that the fries were cold. She went to see the chef and came back and said apparently that is they way they are served !!! What a load of rubbish ! Since when are cold chips a thing ?? Come on ! Thankfully the next morning the breakfast was ok. I would stay again, but only for bed and breakfast. A real shame but I expected better from a supposedly 4 star hotel.

Stay away if vegetarian !!! Arrived 20 mins early for table to be turned away (even though they were lots of empty tables ) Went back 20 mins later to be sat at one of the empty tables ! 2 vegetarian options . Chose mushroom stroganoff to be told they had just ran out and only had a spiced dish left ! Disappointing stay

Hi, Had a lovely anniversary meal with my wife. Food was pretty good and wine well priced. Lights would be better turned down a little as very bright. Main issue was the service. Maybe understaffed- we had lots of hanging around (45 mins to wait for a starter not great) and then waited ages to order out dessert . First world problems I guess. Would recommend if but service would need to improve.

Good afternoon On arriving with my two daughters for afternoon tea we were greeted nicely and shown to our table. The waitress asked if we would like tea or coffee and brought us what we ordered but when she brought us our 3 tier cake stand of delights the stand was very very unsteady and I don’t think should of been used. We didn’t dare move it as frightened it was going to collapse. The sandwiches were skimped on as not even two slices of bread each. The cheesecakes we’re thumb size compared to the scones which were over sized and no butter, jam or cream was served with them., I had to ask for some. After moving to the lounge after finishing later I ordered 2hot chocolates and a cappuccino , the waitress came with hot chocolates first, o r was filled to the top of glass latte mug and the other was filled to 2inches from the top. At least they should be the same and when my cappuccino came the waitress spilt it over table, mobile phone and handbag, if it was on a saucer this might not of happened and no spoon. Ive worked in hospitality for 15 years and the waitresses defiantly need some training. This was a rare treat for me to spend time with my two daughters together and I wasn’t that impressed with the afternoon tea, had better teas at other places which disappointed me as we had a wonderful stay and meal for my daughters wedding at the hotel 7 years ago. Won’t rush to visit again which is a shame as I don’t live that far away.

The food is absolutely fabulous. The staff are so helpful, especially Cathy at breakfast. We absolutely loved our dining experience here, evening meal and breakfast. We can’t fault anything. The stay we had was absolutely brilliant and would highly recommend staying here. We’ll definitely return.

Had an evening meal last week (staying at the hotel). Usual high standard of service and food (stayed here several times). Pan fried sea bass was excellent as was the duck. Also had our breakfast here, very tasty and set us up for the day.

Went for lunch yesterday before going to spend the afternoon in the spa. It was a lovely comfortable clean place. Staff where very friendly. Food was hot tasty and very filling. We had 2 course, If I had to complain my only thing was the mushroom soup was too spicy for my liking but over than that 10/10

We thought the food overall was great and the service excellent. We had afternoon tea which we really enjoyed. It was a real treat and Shannon looked after us very well. After a long early evening walk we then had our evening meal which was excellent. We had the package menu, there was loads of choice the food was delicious - all 3 courses. . The level of service from Cathy and Louise was excellent and we had a wonderful evening. Breakfast was good. The food was okay but Cathy and Shannon once again looked after us and they were both great. We really enjoyed it. Overall we were very impressed by the staff, Cathy, Louise and Shannon looked after us very well, the food was excellent and we had a very enjoyable stay. Thoroughly recommend it.

A mixed review. The food we had was lovely however there was one young girl run off her feet because it was understaffed. She was apologising to customers constantly and to make it even worse the chef roared service from the kitchen causing all guests to fall silent. Noone should be spoken to the way that chef spoke. I did email the restaurant but sadly no reply which again is not good for customer service. We left the restaurant without ordering desserts as we didn't want to add any more stress and we felt sorry the the waitress and let down by the whole eating experience which is very disappointing.

We enjoyed afternoon tea after a visit to the spa. I'd requested vegetarian but we received meat sandwiches, but the young lady service was very apologetic and went and asked the chef to make up some vegetarian sandwiches. Everyone in the restaurant then heard the chef screaming for service at the poor girl who was alone running the busy restaurant. The Manager did not appear until another customer requested to speak to them, and she swiftly disappeared again after. The food was delicious and I can't fault it, but the chefs screaming was embarrassing and the managers lack of presence or acknowledgement of the poor lone staff member was shameful.

We’ve not been to the Morritt under the new management which is a while. We attended for Afternoon tea and it was lovely to see the China still being used however the overall afternoon tea wasn’t brilliant. The sandwiches were soggy and you could tell they’d been in the fridge for a while, the sausage roll was nice, the other desserts were nice enough but overall it was quite boring. We weren’t told what was what although the sandwiches were self explanatory as they were egg, tuna and cheese & ham. The restaurant itself looks like it needs a lick of paint and appeared tired. Service was ok, appeared to only have 1 waitress for the restaurant and it was busy. If you’re looking for a traditional afternoon tea this isn’t the place to go!
