Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleWe were very well received and welcomed. We were given an excellent place in the restaurant for a quiet conversation and the service was friendly and efficient. The food looked good and tasted OK but sadly my bread was stale...
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleFood was excellent and good value for the money. The waitresses were lovely and very helpful. The restaurant was nicely busy but not packed.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleHad a lovely meal yesterday for Mother's Day treat. Food was amazing apart from my sister receiving a sausage wrapped in bacon that wasn't cooked properly was still cold in the middle sent it back and another came the same. The waitress was so understanding and brilliant at her job. We received a complimentary glass of fizz which was so very kind. Later we had desserts which were all lovely but the crumble wasn't very warm. Overall a beautiful meal. I would visit again. Thank you.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleRestaurant was very pleasant. Tables nicely spaced and the room itself well decorated. Waiting staff very friendly and helpful and there was a nice atmosphere. The standard of the food was exceptional and of good proportions. The breakfast selection was very good with somethings cooked to order as requested. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the waiting staff. Fresh pots of tea was served when requested. The afternoon tea was one of the best we have had - not too many sweet cakes but a good balance with savoury fare. The meal we had in the bar was also good with some of the restaurant choices on offer but with also some more traditional 'pub grub'. For bar food we felt prices were a bit high.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleFood was good but the service was a bit of a hit and a miss ...nothing too bad but not smooth as it should have been...Staff were pleasant but as said before a bit flaky
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleThe Sunday Roast was amazing. Incredibly friendly staff as well.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleJust returned from this lovely friendly hotel. Staff were amazing nothing was too much trouble. We met Michelle shortly before her shift whilst out walking and mentioned to her if she could recommend were to go in the area and when we saw her again at dinner she had sourced leaflets of interest for us. We were even asked by a lady at breakfast if we should like our flask filling for our journey home as it was starting to snow which I found very thoughtful ( unfortunately we didn’t have our flask with us) Food of high standard and locally sourced. We upgraded our room at a small cost as the classic room was a little small for our liking. The Garage Spa is so relaxing I highly recommend the Dry Floatation and deep tissue massage I felt rejuvenated afterwards and all well worth the money. Would definitely return.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleHave stopped off at The Dickens Bar many times before but this was our first time staying here. The hotel was fantastic, lovely clean, comfortable rooms with modern bathroom facilities. The breakfast was delicious will be staying again in the future.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleEnjoyed a lovely and well presented meal in the bistro. The menu offered plenty of choice even for our vegan friend Service excellent and everything was good value for the price
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleExcellent food perfectly cooked and presented Excellent service from Sarah An all-round great experience See you again soon Thanks
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleEnjoyed the food, fillet steak was cooked perfect however we were not given steak knives so had to get waitress’ attention to request. A two course meal was included in our hotel reservation, however just about every starter and main had a supplement starters £2-£4 and mains £10-£15 which I was not made aware of prior to being given the menu when we were seated I feel these surcharges were expensive. Also when given the bill to sign there was a charge of £50 for the dinner plus the surcharges (£34) and a service charge for the full amount it was then explained that the dinner charge is removed after midnight. Our table was wonky and waitress had to insert card under leg to level it. Breakfast was lovely service friendly and efficient. Afternoon tea was also included in our package which we had the following day, this was fresh and the service friendly and attentive although we were the only guests in the restaurant. The restaurant is decorated lovely a heritage feel to it and tables well spaced out.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleStarted the stay with afternoon tea and it was really nice food and very fresh! Staff were helpful and friendly throughout our whole stay. The evening meal was amazing!! We were told the head chef was new and we think he deserves a lot of credit. My wife had Seabass and I had the venison and red wine pie and was so so tasty!! One of the best meals I've had and for what paid it was great value. We will definitely be back.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleAmazing food and service! Steak was beautiful, myself abd my husband both enjoyed our 2 courses. Waiting staff could not do enough, the girls were lovely. We also had breakfast the following morning and the food was again lovely. We will definitely be back to eat.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleThis was a deal through wowcher which included afternoon tea which was excellent the best we’ve had. Also included was an evening meal 2 courses which was very disappointing, the fish pie was mostly mashed potato with the odd fleck of fish, no chunks could be found, should really have complained. My husband had beef bourgeon which he thoroughly enjoyed. The desert was ginger sponge was average, so too my cheesecake unfortunately. Service excellent.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleGilroy’s restaurant was exceptional for breakfast, luxurious afternoon tea and indulgent dinner. Slightly high cost but great portions and high quality seasonal produce make it worth the extra. Waiting staff were efficient and knowledgeable. Could not fault it.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleWe had a lovely afternoon tea in a very pleasant comfortable atmosphere. We have visited the Morritt hotel before which was really nice and we hope to go again very soon.
