Stayed at this great pub had an excellent evening meal good atmosphere and also a great breakfast in morning lovely staff on bar and In restaurant would recommend this venue to everyone in the area visiting or living there.

We had a very nice evening at the Poltimore Inn. The staff were really friendly and attentive and the meal we had was delicious.

There’s only one thing from stopping the Castle from getting a 5 and that’s the gluten free option means having things removed from your plate. Things like cauliflower cheese could simply be made from corn flower, then it’s accessible for everyone coeliacs are not on a diet, they just can’t eat gluten. I get Yorkshire pudding might be more of a problem, but just buy them in, then we would happily come more often.

Had a meal here while on holiday and loved it so much we went back twice. Excellent tasty food, wonderful service, worth every penny. Beautiful views out the back and we wouldn’t change a thing.

Lovely place. Unlike any other. Has great views, lodges and an observatory. And excellent food.

Staff were absolutely brilliant and advised us to order quickly as they had a table of 18 about to order. Overall we’ve always enjoyed your food. However, my wife felt her fish dish from specials board was a little over cooked and the pastry on the two pies ordered a little undercooked. The two sticky toffee puddings were really enjoyed . A busy night when your chef was under pressure

A superb evening meal. The calamari starter was fresh and a decent portion. The batter was crisp and light. The Lamb Shank main dish was stunning. Tender, very little fat and very well cooked with a tasty Jus, fresh vegetables and a creamy mash potato. The dessert of a homemade Expresso Creme brûlée with chocolate icecream was delicious. Highly recommend this pub for its food, friendly staff and really comfortable room.

What a charming pub and restaurant. The welcome was warm and the food was great. A lovely send off for my daughters and their partners from their holiday with the rest of the family.

We had really been looking forward to having dinner at the Poltimore and specifically booked the dining room instead of the bar or snug areas. Sadly, whilst the food was good and the staff were extremely friendly, there was a very large party in the dining area, who were very, very noisy (shouting at each other whilst drinking shots) - and seemed to have no awareness of other diners trying to enjoy the space too. We ended up having just one course and leaving.

We had an excellent lunch here yesterday. It was a celebratory birthday meal so we were hoping for something special and it really was! The menu gives a great choice and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. And, the view from the restaurant is lovely! We're planning a return visit soon.

Delicious Sunday lunch, good selection of vegetables, beef cooked to perfection, proper gravy. Loverly atmosphere in the pub, friendly staff . Will definitely come back

Lovely place to stay, or just eat. Really good food, and the staff are fantastic - nothing was too much trouble. Wish it was closer, but we’ll definitely be back.
