Excellent service and quality of food. We visited the Poltimore twice in one week and both times were brilliant. The staff were so accommodating and they were so happy that we had the company of three Labradors. We enjoyed the convivial atmosphere and general warmth- we will certainly be back!

We travel to Somerset every year and have returned to The Poltimore Inn for Sunday lunch each time. It is exceptional, very reasonably priced for such a lovely meal. With the carvery serving three choices of meat and the best roast potatoes for miles, you cant go wrong.. I have no hesitation in recommending The Poltimore Inn as a destination pub for a great eating.

We visited as a group of 8 who pre-booked for Sunday lunch. We arrived and were welcomed by the lady behind the bar. Taken to our table and ordered drinks. The food was lovely and the staff who were working were brilliant. We had to wait quite a while, it looked like there were limited number of staff and the staff who were working were having to run around trying to do the jobs. This meant that silly mistakes were done like bringing a J20 that hadn’t been opened, or water with no glasses. We had a chuckle and informed the staff and they quickly resolved the issue. The staff were friendly and helpful and did a great job. The lady serving the food was very friendly. Enjoyed the visit and only thing that could have made it better is for more staff as this would have resolved the issues.

We had a superb meal at The Poltimore Inn on Tuesday 10th September. We opted for their home made steak and ale pie and it was delicious and proper decent size chips a rare find these days.

We had a carvery , it was nice , i have had nicer carverys , was no mint sauce which was a little dissapointing . Really enjoyed waffles and icecream. Quiet restuarant , overall was a nice meal but wouldnt go there again would probably venture out next time .

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal with you. A lovely menu, excellent food, piping hot , with fantastic service from all the staff. We also enjoyed breakfast, all the meat was great quality from a local butcher , as were the vegetables and eggs local produce. Generous portions and reasonably priced.

We ate here 4 times this past 10 days on our holiday to Devon. Every time has been fantastic. Great friendly and welcoming staff, fantastic food and the best chips around according to my husband and son. I ate lamb rump, chicen wrapped in bacon with sauce, chicken tika masala and lasagne. My husband loved the fish and chips and my son loved the burger. Highly recommended.

Had a meal there last night 17th July. Wonderful old in. I personally had homemade beef pie it was excellent. Others in my party had the lamb which was also beautiful. Can't fault the pub ,service and food, excellent. Will definitely be returning.

Dinner taken when staying overnight at the inn. Well prepared and cooked (fish and chips for me, venison for my wife). However, I struggled with the generous portions and was obliged to leave some, which I hate doing. Service was good and staff pleasant. Nice setting with views over the valley.

We stayed at The Poltimore Inn (in the Violet Lodge) for a weekend. On both nights we had supper at the Inn. I had the vegetarian lasagne on Friday and the Butternut Squash Crumble on Saturday: both dishes were really tasty. My partner had the lamb shank with mint gravy which he said was delicious. There was a friendly welcome from the bar staff when we arrived and there were lots of locals enjoying a drink both inside and outside the pub. We will definitely stay at The Poltimore Inn again.

Nice enough place but service and food below par. We waited an hour to be served with only 3 couples in the dining room and then the food was mediocre. I don’t really want to hear the waitress standing chatting to the chef, they both should be concentrating.
