Our best ever meal at the Maiden Arch. As a food and opera critic for many years in Paris, this was cooking of the highest standards. Service was charming and informal. There is no other restaurant in Barnstaple offering anything of this quality.

We have dined here many times since Rob first set up shop in Barnstaple and also had the home delivery service during COVID. Rob is an immensely talented chef whose food stands comparison with any Michelin starred restaurant I have eaten in. His particular gifts are not restricted to creating perfect food but he also matches the elements on the plate to form an ideal marriage and each dish on the tasting menus flow seamlessly one after the other. Fine dining at its best!

Wow. What an amazing experience we had at the Maiden Arch for my husband's birthday. It truly is a special place to dine. We had the Exmoor menu & the food was out of this world, just the correct amount on each plate & each mouthful was delicious. We did the wine flight & it really was worth it, it absolutely made sense to each dish. The service was spot on & would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a fine dining experience for that special occasion.

The food at Maiden Arch is truly sublime. Robert is so talented at balancing flavours and creating dishes bursting with flavour. The presentation is beautiful but definitely isn’t style over substance - there’s never anything on the plate that doesn’t need to be there or that is just there to make it look pretty. I almost don’t want to review Maiden Arch in case everyone discovers it!

What a wonderful hidden gem. I almost don't want to write this review in case too many people discover the place. But, here goes anyway. The food was superb. The combinations of flavours, textures and pure visual appeal were excellent. I can't recommend it highly enough. We had the wine flight too served to us by the wonderful 'Bob' an in joke you will understand when you've been there. I have been fortunate to eat in some wonderful places around the world and I can happily tell you this rates up there with some of the best. I realise that many are tightening their belts these days but this is an extravagance worthy of the word.

We had a taster menu lunch. The food was outstanding with wonderful flavours and ingredients. The staff were friendly, attentive and very professional. A very relaxing lunch. We were on holiday in Devon so unfortunately cannot be regular customers but would defintely book if we are in the area again.
