WELL RECOMMENDED QUALITY FOOD AT AFFORDABLE PRICES
Crofters – Barrow-in-FurnessQuite possibly the worst place i have ever eaten. the service was appalling and the quality of food well below par. the bar is nice however the food did not seem fresh. it appeared to have come straight out of the microwave. the chef really needs to get out more. would not recommend
Duke of Edinburgh Hotel – Barrow-in-Furnesspopped in for lunch and what a pleasant surprise. lovely meal and service couldn't be faulted.
Abbey House Hotel – Barrow-in-FurnessI would recommend The Village Inn to anyone, there is something for everyone regardless of your taste in food or size of appetite. The staff are very friendly and the food is excellent (cooked by a chef with 22 years of experience at The Village Inn).
Village Inn – Barrow-in-FurnessBully Of a Landlord Bad Manored Landlady Kitchen kneeds Complete refit.
Strawberry The – Barrow-in-FurnessMy favourite place in Barrow to eat, fast and friendly service and the food is excellent. Garlic bread to die for.
Salvanas – Barrow-in-Furnessdo very nice tatti fry
Mithali Restaurant – Barrow-in-FurnessSuperb! No other words for it. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them, and the food out of this world and reasonably priced. Wasn't expecting to find a hotel of this calibre in Barrow. Definitely one to check out. I thoroughly recommend it
Duke of Edinburgh Hotel – Barrow-in-FurnessThe Brown Cow is a wonderful pub with a great selection of real ales, but it also does really good pub food, with large portions and the chips are some of the best I've had. Unless you are extremely hungry, the smaller portions of the cheaper versions are easily enough, and I do recommend their pies.
Brown Cow – Barrow-in-FurnessThey serve Thomas's meat & potato pie (judged to be the best in Furness by the "Hairy Bikers"). The pastry is always crisp because they don't microwave it. The bacon buns are good as well. They claim to sell the best coffee in town - could well be true! Often crowded or full, but worth a wait.
Last Resort Coffee Shop – Barrow-in-FurnessMy party of three visited on Saturday 29th March 2008 The cafe is lovely (decor in keeping with the the cafe's name and area) , the staff are polite, the menu is very good and the prices are very fair - approx £5.00 for a good portion main meal. Good choice of snacks available too. Real (not frozen or oven)chips available which are excellent. Everything is cooked fresh to order. 'Bosuns Locker' Cafe at Roa Island is definitely worth a visit.
Bosuns Locker Cafe – Barrow-in-FurnessMarch 2008. Excellent buffet. I agree with earlier review - this is the best chinese buffet I have been to. Excellent choice of food / excellent quality food. There is an 'Early Bird' price of £10.80 (5.30-6.30 p.m.) 'Grand Buffet' price of approx couple £'s more from 6.30p.m. - 09.00 p.m., then the price drops again at 09.00 p.m. to £10.80 per head. We arrived in time for the 'Early Bird' and the choice was amazing. Barrow is my home town where I visit several times a year, but I live in Hertfordshire.
Jade Fountain – Barrow-in-FurnessBEAUTIFUL you must go.....
Ormsgill Inn – Barrow-in-FurnessEnjoyed an evening of fine dining at very reasonable prices, food was cooked to perfection and the menu was of restaurant quality, varied and with plenty of choice, and a good selection of wine. The Duke has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and the restaurant compliments a quality hotel. The staff were excellent and I would highly recommend a visit
Duke of Edinburgh Hotel – Barrow-in-Furnessgone down hill since new owners taken over in December 2007, he is very obnoxious and the little black haired gremlin behind the bar /waiting on, never ever smiles. trying to get pub full by introducing cheap 4.95 meals, BUT it shows , small portions and not that tasty, cheap food used, better off going to stagger inn at newton or ship inn at roose.
Crofters – Barrow-in-Furnessfantastic Sunday lunches when they did them, great place to have fun and relax everybody should try out leonokie on a Saturday its fantastic.
Harbour Hotel – Barrow-in-FurnessI live just around the bay horse. In my opinion it is absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere; quiet music, families etc. Cheap, yet easily able to relax and dine. STRONGLY recommended
Bay Horse – Barrow-in-Furnessthe food is very good but the landlady needs a lesson in manners, she's very rude to customers especially the people who are just having a drink. she has put me and many others off re-visiting the place, even though the food is excellent.
Ship Inn At Roose – Barrow-in-Furness
