Since Eugenio Cozzi took over this restaurant a few years ago I have seen it improve from good to outstanding, probably because excellence in a restaurant stems from the top, and Signor Cozzi clearly knows how to get the best out of his staff, perhaps because he has been a waiter and cook himself in the past, and still retains his enthusiasm for every aspect of the job – and consequently knows how to appoint good staff. That must be one reason why the waiters are unfailingly friendly and helpful, not only to me, a ‘regular (and by this I mean four times a week for lunch, and a few times a month in the evenings!) but equally so to those around me, some of whom are clearly first-timers; and the cooks are not only highly competent, but show imagination in attractively varying their dishes so as to please their customers As a diabetic, I could have found my choice limited, at lunchtime even by a menu whose range of choice is very generous at the price, but the staff make vigorous efforts to come up with something both suitable and enjoyable – and again I hear this happening to nearby customers when appropriate. I enjoy the ‘ambience’ as well as the food – the place buzzing with the noise of happy eaters, and friends meeting for a good gossip and to exchange news! What are my qualifications, you may ask, to pontificate like this? Well, I drive regularly to France, largely for the sun, the food and the wine, and find myself regularly in Beaune, Burgundy, whose restaurants are legendary, one of which, proudly sporting its ‘Bib Gourmand’, I have been patronising for 19 years. That is my yardstick! As a diabetic, I eat a lot of fish. I have paid a lot of money for fish in some distinguished restaurants in Burgundy, and I have yet to find a restaurant that can challenge Gino’s in this respect. We ‘afishionados’ are lucky to live in Birmingham, whose fish-market is as good as any in the realm, but, to get it, a restaurateur has to go regularly at crack of dawn and know the best stalls to visit and what to look for, and one who does is called Gino Cozzi! I have enjoyed superb lobster, halibut and sea bass, a la carte at Gino’s. I have also eaten equally memorable sardines for a starter on the lunch menu. As befits an Italian restaurant, the pasta is equally memorable for its range and excellent quality. Whatever the dish, its presentation is always a pleasure to the eye, and the service almost always fast and efficient. I write ‘almost’ because the staff are human beings, and when many customers, as they do, all want to come at about the same time and when the restaurant is nearly full, do not be surprised if, very occasionally, you have to wait a little longer than usual, or under extreme pressure the staff even get something wrong!

Have visited this restaurant several times over the past 12 months and it has been excellent each time . I am coeliac and have to avoid wheat, they have no problem in adapting recipes for me, I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

San Carlo is an excellent dining experience! There have been a few local celebrities as well at San Carlo’s, footballers especially like the place, which adds to the excitement. The menu has a lot of variety and is not overpriced, so you always get value for money with quality food. A very reliable, high quality restaurant.

I visited Sabai Sabai recently, after having rather disappointing experiences at other local Thai restaurants. The whole evening with extremely enjoyable. We were promptly greeted and shown to our table. The choice on the menu is extensive. My friend and I chose a set menu platter for two, costing just over £20 each. Everything was delicious and just as beautiful as the foods I have tried on my two visits to Thailand. The amount put in front of us was enough to feed more than two of us, and I certainly left feeling like I needed to undo the top button of my jeans! The drinks menu was also pleasing and had a mixture of Thai beers, cocktails as well as standard drinks you would find in any decent restaurant. A truly fantastic restaurant I am looking forwarding to returning to.

Nice friendly club with live karaoke. Bartenders are all nice, friendly and cute. No smoking room inside, nor a mirror in the toilet, not many people during weekdays but that's expected. Music is good and a great place for a fun night out with friends. Definitely worth checking out.

Pauline, her wonderful fiance Derek and her staff were exceptional in every single way!!!!when they catered my brother's wedding ont the 15th July 2012. I am an event organiser and I can tell you I have done a lot of weddings and I have worked with a lots of different people. and I can tell you Pauline and her staff are the best caterers and the best people I have had the pleasure to work with!!! They were professional from the very first phone call… and it was like working with a friend that I have known for years. Nothing was too much for me or my family…E.g. My son has autism and he also eats certain foods. I called pauline and ask her if there was anyway she could cook some salmon separately from him and my 2 year old daughter. Pauline didn’t even hesistate.. She said ‘of course!!’ … and cooked a tray full for them. Also as a coordinator on the day I was rushing around trying to make everything as perfect as possible. and I rushed around so much and her food was so tasty that wasnt any left for me!! But little did I know that Derek, (Pauline’s wonderful fiance) had put some food to one side for me… I couldn’t believe that he took the time out to do that for me!… I am reccomending The Deep to as many people as possible.. Because they are simply truly the best EVER!!!! And they are the only people I will ever recommend if i am doing an event or if anyone else is doing an event!..

Wow, what a spectacular night for our anniversary. The food was just perfect, the best meal we have ever had. Amazing. The service was second to none. Our wheelchair was was very unobtrusively accepted. What a lovely, lovely night. We're waiting for the next special occasion to come along so we can go again. Amazing food, service and fabulous surroundings. Perfect night. Thankyou.

Visited quite a while back - April 2011 - have to say that as a vegetarian this is the absolute worst place I have had the misfortune of visiting. The options were limited - my main course looked much the same as my starter - and the taste can only be described as sickly sweet. To be honest I had a terrible meal. However, all my colleagues loved it (they are not veggies) and I know some of them are regulars. This was the first time I had tried Thai food and needless to say I won't be making the same mistake again.

Enjoyed an excellent Cannelloni at Da Ginos for lunch yesteday. The restaurant is on a nice quiet street in an upmarket district of Birmingham. The place is upmarket too, classic style in design and food. Service was very good especially from the boss Gino!
