Last night was my second visit to loch fyne, I can? wait until my next one. Albeit a Monday and the restaurant was quiet, the service was excellent, prompt and courteous. The specials board was wonderfully varied. The wine list was good and reasonably priced. The oysters sublime, the haddock delicate and Moorish and the sorbet perfectly freshened the palate at the end of the meal. The bar underneath a bit trendy but that? not a bad thing in this case. Recommended for any occasion.

Plantation

I've had 2 awful meals at this place. The food was very good - when it arrived. However, the service on both occasions was very poor. We were offered our bill after the starters (they had forgotten our mains). On another occasion, it took 45 minutes for our starters to arrive and a further 45 mins for mains for only half of the party. The staff didn't really seem to comprehend what the problem was. Good to see that things are improving - hope it lasts.

Ahmed's Curry Cafe

Small place very popular, fantastic food at very reasonable price. Those who appreciate genuine Indian food, it's worth a visit. Try the Tamarind Chicken or the Lal Maas, which you are not likely to find anywhere else. I was informed it's Ahmed's own creation. Word of advice worth booking in advance.

The chef cares about his work. Ingredients excellent, cooking and presentation too.

Oh Calcutta

I?e been to many Indian restaurants and have never been satisfied with either the food or the depressing waiters or the sita music twanging in the background, not only that but most Indian restaurants are so outdated with there awful decor in Bristol! I have found the most amazing, wackiest, modern restaurant in uk! Oh! Calcutta! Has lived up to its name. Not only does it have a wonderful selection of fish (red snapper and monk fish) the ingredients and preparation are so fresh that it wafts through your nostrils and sends you to food heaven! The waiters and waitresses are all from different parts of Europe, which makes it uniquely different to other Indian restaurants. The food is exceptionally tasty due to the freshness of their cooking. The standard is very high for the money and this makes it a winner for my local Indian restaurant. If you get bored of sitting in the restaurant you can always watch the screen on the wall, which plays arty video clips and world music. Oh! Calcutta! Is the way to go forward, its about time Bristol had a trendy Indian restaurant!

Oh Calcutta

I recently went to Oh Calcutta on my birthday with 10 friends and had one of the best meals ever. The restaurant is like no other Indian restaurant I had been too , looking modern and trendy. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and best of all the food was fantastic. Well done Oh Calcutta, I will be returning very soon.

Dynasty

Went with my boyfriend for Valentines Day, then for my birthday a couple of weeks later. Well worth the experience and money, as food was some of the best Chinese ever! Very authentic, just like when we travelled to Hong Kong! And the staff are ever so friendly. This will definitely become a regular of ours!

Loch Fyne Restaurant

Having previously eaten at the sister restaurant in Bath, I tried Loch Fyne, in Bristol. The ambience was great, The staff are very chirpy and offer an extremely good service and is really clean and tidy. I was more than happy with the price & the menu selection. We had Oysters to start, with Lobster to share and champagne and desert, all reasonably priced and very romantic (PS I do recommend the Oysters & Champagne combo!!) Will go back again!!! A real treat!!!

San Carlo

I?e heard a few poor reviews of this restaurant in the past, which frankly confused me. My party and I found every element of our dining experience to be of a very high standard. I highly recommend it.

Cafe Maitreya

At last it has gained recognition, and won a Vegetarian restaurant of the year award. We have been eating here for years now and Mark and Paul continue to produce Gourmet veggie food. Imaginative, seasonal ,local where possible, ingredients expertly cooked. Great selection of very well priced wines. Now always booked well in advance but definitely a must try, even for non veggies.

Mamma Mia

Oh Mamma Mia!! On first walking in, you straightaway get whisked off into the culture of Italy! With the pictures, decor and the casual and cosy table settings. The atmosphere is friendly, and the waitress was hopeful in helping to decided on which dishes warranted the honour of being ordered! The restaurant itself is very small with the tables quite closely situated to one another, but this didn't take away from the intimate & hilarious conversations going on all around. The menu has a very good selection, the only problem being many of the dishes aren't described. At first glance it may appear a little extensive, especially to a Uni student such as myself, but actually its still average in the spectrum of things. The service was prompt and the waitress came around at intervals to make sure all was well. I ordered a Salmon & Pasta dish (unfortunately can't remember it's name!) which was nice, however the creamy natural of the sauce did get a little sickening after a while. Looking around our table, one would say the portions were generous and the presentation fair. Just as we where finishing, a number of customers started entering, meaning that is was harder to get the attention of the waitress in order to get our bill. Overall a very cheerful place affording comforting warmth, with lovely selection and service. Extra notes! The restaurant is well situated with Trenchard Street Car Park being reasonably priced and near by. As with many popular places it is advised that you book your table in advance.

Juniper Restaurant

a cosy environment that was reassuringly busy on a weekday. service friendly yet unobtrusive. the food was served very quickly presumably for a quick turnover but happy to delay dessert when asked. speaking of the important bit...the food! wonderfully and uniquely combined variety of flavours and textures served in generous quantities!

La Grotta

Most of the people I?e met in the restaurant over the years have become avid regulars. The "La Grotta" sauce is to die for. And now a No smoking policy! Great intimate club downstairs finishes a party off. Proper job

What can I say; it? nice to have a real Caribbean restaurant in Bristol that provides you with a good quality meal. PLANTATION - keep doing your thing!!!

Kebab House The

Best takeaway kebab place in Bristol but often not recognised as a relaxed restaurant which serves excellent food. Unpretentious!

Casa Mexicana

Really nice mexican with fresh tasty food! The service is good but the staff have an element of there own agenda presence i.e. what they did the night before etc so you feel awkward to interupt

Plantation

I have been to Plantation a couple of times and would definitely return. It is a light, airy restaurant and very pleasantly decorated. The food is outstanding for the price and the service is very good. It's great to see the open plan kitchen and watch your food being cooked. The staff are all very attentive and the owner is a diamond.
